Good Movie to Entertain a Wide Range of Ages?

What kids movies can I recommend to friends who will have a kids room at their wedding reception. There will be kids of every age to entertain, so we're looking for something appropriate and not scary for toddlers that will still keep the interest of tweens.

Anything from Pixar, Dreamworks, or Disney. I hate cartoons, but am absolutey in love with any animated movies from them. I never used to watch them but the ER staff at work told me (when I was a newbie in ER) that the doc that always wore the icky green scrubs name was Dr. Shrek. When I called him that he became very angry. But the look upon my face was so innocent that he believed me when I said I had no idea who Shrek was. He told me to watch the movie and, as they say, the rest was history.

I think any of the Pixar movies are a good bet.

Another thought, if they have a gaming system (XBox, PlayStation, etc.) they can bring in an additional TV and set up the video games on the other side of the room. That will keep the bigger kids occupied forever.

I agree with the previous poster - The Incredibles and The Iron Giant please little ones all the way up to adults! So do Monsters Inc., A Bug's Life and Finding Nemo.

A couple of years ago when my 8th graders had a chance to watch their choice movie they agreed on Disney's Toy Story. They loved it while eating lunch and enjoying rootbear floats. I know my little one's at home also enjoy watching it too (ages 15 mos. and 3 years). As adults, my husband and I enjoy it too. Really just about any Disney movie will go over well.

How about Kicking and Screaming? It's a Will Ferrell movie but it's super cute and all age appropriate. he coaches a soccer team in the movie.

It seems to me there are other things you can do besides watch a movie. Kids do that at home all the time. They are out to something special so make the room full of fun activities. Play old-fashioned games like musical chairs.
All ages can do that. If you can hear the dance music, dance. Draw pictures of the bride and groom that they can have for their scrapbook. Remember to put names on them.
Have a story about a wedding. There is a cute Ringbearer story that I gave to the ringbearers at my daughter's wedding. I would think there would also be one about a flower girl. Be creative. Think about all the adults having lots of fun and make sure the children do the same.

How about one of the old Disney classics like the Happiest Millionare or Flubber, or The Lovebug...these entertain our whole family without being too scary (which is a major issue for us!).

Movie's I would say maybe Nemo, Madagascar, Monster's Inc for animated stuff. Now for some unsolicited advice =)We did something similar at my reception for the kids. We also gave the tweens a couple disposable cameras with a "list" of pictures to take: First couple dancing, someone hugging their mom, person making the goofiest face, etc.....They really liked that and it kept them busy throughout the night. Then they gave the cameras back and we developed the pictures, they were really cute! It was a picture scavenger hunt. We also put out board games like Jenga, lucky ducks, playing cards, checkers....that was good too. Just some other options besides the movie.....the kids didn't stay too long for the movie with the music and party going. Have a great time!

A good Christian choice is Veggie tales.
Most like Ice Age or even Shrek since is it a wedding and Shrek gets married in the first movie.
Nemo or Cars is always fun for many ages.
Most teens are not going to sit in a room with a bunch of toddlers so you really need to only think of the preteen age kids.

The problem is that kids today have already seen most movies so I don't think there is one movie that will hold the attention of all (or maybe even most) of the kids. I agree that the Pixar movies have the greatest appeal across all ages. Picking a movie like Toy Story that has been out for a while might be the way to go b/c the littlest kids probably haven't seen it and the tweens probably haven't seen it for a few years and probably liked it the first time around and will actually enjoy seeing it again. If your friends decide to skip the movie - the last wedding we were at had craft tables for the little ones with these things called Bendaroos - flexible waxy plastic straws that you shape into different things. The 3-6 year old set loved them.

I would go with something like Kung Fu Panda. It was pretty well done and it's certainly a general entertainment type of movie. nothing in it that should frighten any of the little ones, but enough entertainment to keep the older ones happy for a bit.

How about Toy Story? My kids (4 & 7) love it but haven't seen it alot and older kids will like it since it was a popular flick when they were younger. My older nieces and nephews love Toy Story and find the subtle humor funny. Being that its gender neutral helps too!

My Neighbor Totoro and Kiki's Delivery Service, both by Hayao Miyazaki and released in the US by Disney, so easily available. No violence, gorgeous animation, and unusual enough that many older kids won't have already seen them. We've played both of these on rainy days "up north" with family, where the kids range from preschool to tween.

Also, they could try cartoon shorts. The Wallace and Gromit shorts are classic. We also like the Looney Tunes boxed sets, although I don't know if some parents might object to the anvils dropping on characters' heads! We find that they entertain all ages, though.

I think Nemo is pretty tame for the little ones (except for some shark fights and the fish getting separated from his dad) but keeps the interest of older kids, too.
