i was watching GMA this morning and listened as Robin Roberts let everyone know she has MDS - a rare blood disorder. I was a tad teary-eyed when I watched. I was thankful to hear that her sister is almost a 100% match for the bone marrow transplant she needs.
I also loved how the others told her she wasn't alone and that it wasn't HER fight - it was ALL OF THEIR fight!!! How wonderful!!!!

I am a donor. I've not been called as a match - but one day!! :) Are you a donor?

Do you know of anyone with MDS and what was their outcome?

I hope that Robin Roberts recovers 100% like she did from breast cancer!!!

What can I do next?

I read quickly that the MDS is related to her cancer treatment. I will read up on that relationship.

I can't be a marrow donor for another three years. I have had my spine fused several times over the past nine years and I have to be post op for five years to be back on the registry.

My mother-in-law passed away from Leukemia so it is very important! I too hope I am called some day!

My mother just died of MDS less than two weeks ago. She was only 74 and in reasonably good health before she got her diagnosis in January. My mom was not eligible for a transplant, even though she would have had many potential donors - eight kids and 28 grandkids. My heart is broken.

As for Robin Roberts, a lot depends on what type of MDS she has. There are several different types, and degrees of severity. I hope she can beat it.

I love Robin Roberts. And she had never looked better than in the last few years - post cancer! When George S. was talking, he was so choked up. And Diane Sawyer being there - not to mention her husband won a Tony last night - there is no way she got any sleep. Robin is in good company! So much of healing is about your mental status.

I particularly loved her quote, "It's about focusing on the fight, not the fright." Well said.

We were watching bubble guppies this morning and didn't see it...

Its great that her sister is a match!

I really respect her, she is such an insperation for so many other women! I think it was great that she went through her breast cancer on camera. She didn't go behind closed doors and come back when she was healthy again. While we didn't see what she was dealing with or the daily struggles, she still had her face out there and remained as strong as she could. She gave strength to so many other women going through the same thing. As Im sure she will be doing the same thing this time around.

I wish her the best.
