I have heard that bull dogs are good dogs but as one of the other mothers mentioned Labs and also boxers make for a very good pet!! They do need a lot of exercise. I have had 3 dogs since I was 16; cocker spaniel (A LOT OF WORK!), a doberman, and a mut (lab & pit bull mix). I have to say that having a 6 year old I was really worried about the pit bull mix! My boyfriend is a firefighter and found her as a puppy and I couldn't turn her away!! I immediately called the Vet and he calmed my nerves by telling me that he wouldn't be too concerned with the pit bull side because dogs are trained to be attack dogs and it just so happens that pits are the species that it happens the most. He said that the lab side would be more work because it's like having a 2 year old for the rest of your life!! HE WAS NOT KIDDING!! No, I wouldn't go to the pound looking for a pit bull but fortunately she has been a very good dog and loves kids!! She and my son play together very well!! So I would say that the Lab or even a golden retriever would be good choices along with a boxer!! All very playful but trust worthy dogs! Previously owned dogs tend to be set in the ways of their previous owners so it may be hard to ween or train the dog to fit your household. Either way.....GOOD LUCK!!
