Good Camera

My camera just died. I have owned 2 digital cameras for over 6 years. I am looking for a high quality camera that can take pictures in low light areas. (example my daughters classroom) and also distance shots without getting blurry when I zoom in. I have 2 kids that are active and all my moving shots of them are blurry. I am tired of spending money on a camera and not being happy. I was thinking of a Canon or Nikon this time.

I have a Canon A Powershot and I am totally happy with it, also with the price I paid, but what really amazed me was their customer service. My kids broke the camera and they shipped and repaired it for free, no questions, no drama, I was totally excited about their service.
good luck

My camera is an Canon S2IS I bought about 4 or 5 years ago, and I still love it so much. It has several settings for different light environments, including an "indoor" setting I use all the time, where the pictures are as bright as real life, no flash necessary. It also has an excellent zoom, which is why I bought it. This particular model isn't available anymore, but Canon has an updated version that I'm sure is 100% better. It cost me $400 back then, I wanted a GOOD camera so I got one, and even these years later it works fantastic and I have never regretted spending that much money. It has an outrageous amount of features I'll probably never figure out but that's okay with me! My only issue with it is it's not exactly pocket-sized, but I knew that when I bought it, duh - I just didn't realize how often I'd want to use it as an everyday camera! Even if you don't want something so fancy, I think Canon's the way to go.

N., people think I'm crazy for shopping from TV, but i would suggest you check out QVC at
qvc.com
unless you already shop there from TV. They have a number of video cameras, but the best part is that you would have 30 days to try out your choice and return it if it isn't what you want. There is no fee for membership and if you don't buy another thing, it's not a problem. You can also call 800-345-1515 to obtain a membership number. I"ve shopped with them for probably 15 years and love it. I buy everything from clothes to food to shoes with minimal returns.
Good luck.

I love the Canon point and shoots-especially the powershot A series, can't beat the quality for the money and they use AA batteries. Great color and a great little camera. That said, an SLR will do better with the blur issues-almost no delay in taking the picture. All point and shoots have some delay between you hitting the button and the picture being taken which makes action shots and kid shots hard. If you're willing to go SLR (larger camera to carry and more expensive), I can't say enough about the Nikons. I have the D40 which is about as compact as they get. I can shoot so many pictures quickly and the flexibility for lenses-telephoto, portrait, etc are just awesome. I don't tend to carry it out as much with little ones because of size, but once my kids are school age I think it will get more out of the house use. :)

I have the canon digital rebel, I love it. It was pricey, but worth it. It takes action shots fast. You can get good zoom lens for far away. The down fall it is it bigger.

I also have a small camera that I can take anywhere, but my better pictures come from the Rebel. I actually have two rebels. I bought my second one earlier this year. Go to a camera store and tell them what you want and they will help you pick the best camera for your needs. Good Luck

I have a Sony DHC-H20. It can do movie clips, and my favorite...it has a 10X zoom. It's just as small and handy as others. Love it!

I just got the Nikon D60. It's a great camera. The pictures are so much better quality than my Kodak. You can make it a manual camera, making it easy to take pics in low light. I suggest getting the VR (vibration reduction)lens for the camera. You can buy the D60 Kit, that comes with that lens. I own 8 different camera's & this is by far the best. It is pricey tho. I've seen it on sale for $549. You may be able to find it cheaper tho.
Good luck.

We just bought the olympus 9000. It is by far the best camera we have owned yet. The zoom is amazing. Our Sony just died on us which was a blessing! :)

I too have the canon rebel and love it. I do agree that the down size is the large size but for the quality of pictures you get it is so worth it. I bought mine from Sam's club on-line and saved about 200.00 (versus buying it actually at Sam's club - it didn't make sense to me but...and you could still return it to them)

Any way you go with Canon you can't go wrong even with their power shots. All of my friends have those and they like them as well.

Canon G10. Awesome camera. It's an SLR so slightly bigger than your average point-and-shoot but also takes great pics and is not too big that I can't throw it in the diaper bag still. From the research I did, it's what a photographer buys who wants a point-and-shoot. Amazon had the best price with free two day shipping!

We LOVE our Canon Rebel XT, if we could have afforded it, we would have purchased the XTi or XTs...but we are so glad we bought an SLR camera instead of a point & shoot. It works so much better to capture fast-moving kiddos ;). Good luck with your purchase!

We have had the Canon Powershot sd700is Elph for about 5 years now and I love it. They have newer models now, but I would completely recommend them. They're small enough to fit in your pocket and take great pictures. Make sure it has the IS (image stabilization) because that will help with action shots. They're not very expensive either- I think you can get a pretty good one for under $200.
