I like Bone Daddy's in Dallas. (Spring Creek @75)
Bar b cutie in Allen might be worth a try too (hwy 5 just north of McDermott)
My relatives are visiting and we are hoping for a good BBQ place, which I have not been able to find since I moved here. I'm more of a KC BBQ type. I think Dickey's is awful, did not like 2 Pardners at all, and was not real impressed by Spring Creek. We went to Red Hot & Blue once & did not like it, and I'm not a fan of Memphis style dry rub. We are looking for a decent supper place; casual is fine, but not lunch-line type. Help! Do I have to drive to KC for decent BBQ? I live in Plano but would be willing to drive a bit. Oh, Tony Roma's was decent before it closed down; something like that would be fine.

I tried Hutchins BBQ in McKinney ona fluke. I won a gift certificate there and it was the best BBQ I have had since I moved to TX 5 years ago! It is kind of a lunch line. We just ordered our to go, called ahead. I was really good
Definitely worth the drive to downtown McKinney.
I don't now what KC bbq really is, but I LOVE sonny bryan's bbq. go to their website and find their locations. You may not like it b/c it is similar to Dickey's except better quality and taste imo.
I live in Frisco and have been dying to try La Hacienda Ranch. I think its more mexican stlye BBQ, but it smells AWESOME everytime we drive by!!!
This area has a no smoker restriction and that is why you will not find good bbq around here. I would suggest finding some little town outside of the dallas area. I drive through Athens off 175 to 79 after the road veres right there is a good little place called Danny's that I love. You might want to mapquest it and call to see if they are open before driving to no where, but it is worth it. There is another place in Frisco that has ok fast food bbq called Rudy's but I wouldn't drive out of my way for it. Tom's Ribs in San Antonio is great too. You want the one outside of town not the one in town though. You might try Bone Daddy's in Richardson it is pretty good. Not a conservative place but food is alright. Let me know anytime you find a good place. A year from now I will still want to know! Good Luck
I don't like Dickey's or Spring Creek either but I love Sonny Bryans. Also Ricky Ray's off Parker is pretty good.
I second Bone Daddy's. We also like Dickey's.
You might try these places out before you take people there!!
I'm not sure what you are talking about with KC type. We moved from NC and there is a definite BBQ type there that we enjoyed. I think it was vinegar based or something.
