Good Bakery in Western Suburbs

Flour Barrel bakery in downtown Glen Elllyn has been there for years and they are excellent.

The cakery in North Aurora is spectacular. they taste as good as they look. we have used them for years ever since they were just a hole in the wall spot on butterfield road. the guy who works for them has appeared on some of those cake competitions on tv like last cake standing. he is a riot. here is the link.

Kirschbaums in Western Springs!

For my son's birthdays, I had a guest call me and ask if she could bring the birthday cake. I had already ordered one from Sam's, but I thought I'd be polite, and I figured that we always could use variety. She brought a cake from a place in West Chicago (I saved the receipt): Panaderia La Chiquita at 133 W Roosevelt Rd. West Chicago. No one ate the Sam's Club cake, and I had to give it away to some neighbors that didn't make it to the party! The bakery cake she brought was made fresh, on the day of the party, and it was real whipped cream, and with fresh fruit filling, trimmed with coconut. It was so beautiful and was the best bakery birthday cake we've ever had!

La Petite Sweet in downtown Westmont does custom cakes, and they are FANTASTIC! I had one made for my son last winter and it was so delicious.

We got a 10" marble cake with chocolate mousse filling and it was about $50. We had about 12 adults at his party and because the cake was so thick we had a lot of leftovers.

I second La Petite Sweet. They are awesome! You can also try Kirschbaums in Western Springs. I've never had a cake from them but everything else I've tried (and I love my sweets so it's been a lot) is fantastic!
