Try fingernail polish remover. It works great on things like metal and glass and doesn't scratch.
The previous owners of our house put a hook or something plastic on the center of every metal window frame. I pried the plastic off, but I cannot get the gross adhesive leftover off! I've scrubbed with Goo Gone and rubbing alcohol, but neither is working at all. Any suggestions?

Have you tried warming it up with a hair dryer and then scraping it off? I would imagine the windows might be chilly and that can make those adhesives harden. Good luck!
Craft stores will carry a product called "un-do." It is a scrapbook product that temporarily makes adhesive ineffective. I have used it on all types of surfaces including metal to remove price tags.
I would spray it with water and scrape it off with a razor blade...thats worked for me in the past
