My husband has recently taken up golf & absolutely loves it. I'm wondering where we can get a reasonably price set of clubs?? Probably a used set since he's not exactly a pro yet!! :) He's already looking on craigs list & pawn shops...

What can I do next?

My husband is a very good golfer (4 yr college scholarship on golf) and has played with a lot of the professionals now on tour. He is actually thinking about playing in the Champions (Senior) tour since he turned 50.

You are looking in the right direction. We belong to a private club in Plano and I know these guys upgrade clubs often. You might call some of the public and private clubs to see if they know of someone upgrading their set. Sometimes the golf stores know of people trying to sell or trade up clubs.

There is a PGA store off Plano Parkway and 75 that is very nice.

Good luck.

We have an extra set of irons and a bag we are looking at selling. Idont have the drivers as i bought mine custom but let me know if you are interested. Looking to be about 175 for them as the bag is brand new and was over 100 by itself.

Those places will probably be the cheapest... you might also want to find golf stores, they usually have use sets as well. My husband is getting into golf too, I went looking last night at some...

You might also check Play It Again Sports. They buy and sell used sports equipment. We've never looked at their golf selection, but have purchased helmets, baseball equipment, etc. Unfortunately, they don't have a store in Irving, but have locations in Carrollton, Fort Worth, Flower Mound, and Plano. Might be worth the drive.

The other idea would be www.usedsports.com. They offer free listings to people wanting to sell their equipment. You can select single clubs or accessories, or full sets, and see all of the pricing online.

Good luck!

You might try Lou's. I think it's off of I35. I can't remember exactly, but it's a lot cheaper than the chain stores we've gone to. You might try Craig's list or if you have a HOA website for your community. Oh-and be prepared to become a golf widow!!! It is the other "woman":)
