Hi A.,
I took my daughter for allergy testing when she was 2 (she's 4 now), and our allergist is very thorough. He asked us about family history of allergies, whether food-related or environmetal. He also asked us questions about our house, when it was built, was it brick, the kind of heating that we use, the flooring, etc. The doctor will also ask about his current diet. If you have some time before the appointment, keep a food diary to help you track and remember what he eats and whether he has any strange reactions. Also very helpful to bring some Benadryl (but don't give him any within 24 hrs before you go to the doctor, allergy tests won't work). The Benadryl comes in handy if he gets a skin prick test. My daughter ended up with huge hives after the testing. The size of the hives indicates the severity of the allergy, and in her case it's quite severe. Since your child is only 15 months, he may actually get a blood test, so prepare yourself for that. I hope this helps and good luck to you.
