There's a really good chicken salad at costco, they make it with their rotissere chicken. Or just make some cookies, you could even use the pre made dough.

I like the idea of fresh fruit. You can also add a fruit dip to make it extra special. I make one that is easy & yummy. Just mix up some lemon flavored instant pudding and then add some cool whip & mix it all together (about half pudding/half cool whip & then adjust to your taste). As for what to wear - when in doubt dress just slightly nicer than you think you need to - it's better to be slightly over dressed than under dressed. For a BBQ, I would think something on the nice side of casual. Have fun!

I usually just buy a fruit or veggie tray. You don't have to cut it up yourself you can just buy them premade or premade salad. It really doesn't matter what you bring. Most people are more concerned about what they are bringing and what they are wearing. Just relax and enjoy yourself. het to know the other people there and have fun.

Veggie tray. Doesn't take any cooking and all you have to do is cut up the veggies, display them real pretty like and then pour some ranch dressing into a bowl (if you don't have a veggie tray). You can even just buy the veggie trays already prepared if you don't want to prepare it yourself. This goes off well at a BBQ and everyone eats carrots, celery, broccoli, olives, etc...

Cut up a bunch of fruit for a fruit salad (stawberries, cantaloupe, melon) remember to wash everything well. Add blackberries and blueberries for delicious color!
Everyone loves fruit and it's better than any mayo-based picnic salad!!
Have fun!

S.,
You could always buy some Bush baked beans and warm them up.
Best of Luck with whatever you decide.
Remember to have fun and relax.

This is probably the most popular thing I take to events like this: It doesn't take long to assemble and everyone always wants the recipe and asks me to bring it the next time we get invited somewhere: Hope it helps--

Deli-Style Pasta Salad

1 pkg tri color pasta, cooked to pkg directions
6 oz thinly sliced hard salami, julienned
6 oz provolone cheese, cubed
1 can (2 ¼ oz) sliced ripe olives, drained
1 small red onion, thinly sliced
1 sm zucchini, halved & thinly
½ c chopped green pepper
½ c chopped sweet red pepper
¼ c minced fresh parsley
1/4 c grated parmesan cheese
1/2 c olive oil
½ c red wine vinegar
1 clove garlic, minced
1 ½ t ground mustard
1 t dried basil
1 t dried oregano
¼ t salt, dash of pepper
1 pkg of miniature tomatoes (grape tomatoes)

Place cooked pasta in a large bowl and add the next 9 ingredients. In a jar with a tight fitting lid, or salad dressing shaker combine oil, vinegar, garlic, mustard, basil, oregano, salt & pepper. Shake well, pour over salad and toss to coat. refrigerate for 8 hours (if possible) and garnish with tomatoes. Yummy and serves 10-12 (usually more)

Have fun and be awesome!!
