So what is everyone, that is not cooking a turkey, doing this thanksgiving? My hubby and I decided we will not be going out of town (to my parents house, where we go every yr for thanksgiving) because we are on a tight budget right now, nor will I be cooking a turkey. But we def want to go out and have dinner somewhere and have no idea where to go. We don't want to go to a buffet restaurant. We want to go somewhere nice but not to pricey. Any suggestions? What do some of you recommend. Thank you!

What can I do next?

Chinese restaurants... are always open.
Just order dishes/entrees and eat it "family style" which in Asian custom.. means sharing whatever you order, and eating it all together.... like you would at home.

all the best,
Susan

I'd call around to some of your favorite restaurants or ones that you've always wanted to try and see which ones are open. You can often check on-line for menus too.

We started a new tradition last year and go out on Thanksgiving. We live a little north of San Diego (I see you live in SD). Last year we went downtown - no reservations anywhere but we happened upon Elephant & Castle and had the most delicous late lunch/early dinner. They weren't busy and the food was really good. Not sure if they are open this year or not. We are going north this year - maybe Santa Monica :-) Have Fun!!

Here is the info on E&C:

Well, a nice place (restuaurant or a hotel) will be pricey, but totally worth it. You'd probably spend that money anyway buying a turkey and all the fixin's. You might be able to find something for $30 per person. We are going to the Marriott on the Riverwalk in San Antonio and we are paying $40 per person and our kids are free b/c they are all 6 and under. Good choice not cooking - what a royal pain! I would never...
