So What Happened?

My daughter did great going both ways. We gate checked the stoller/carseat what was a littil hard to get set up and it seemed like no one wanted to help but luckly that was only the first flight. on the fligts home I met so many nice people who helped so much, and I accepted the help believe me. On the way there I fed her for the first two plain rides although she was fed up by the time we got to the third plain she got through it like a tropper. On the trip back she did even better, since she started interacting with people while on our trip it was so cute to see her interact with people on the plain, and the women at the USO just loved her. By the way the USO rocks for any military familys out there, they have a room just for kids with a very nice rocker. So basically all I had to do was nurse her and she was fine on the plain, and I think she is as happy as I am to be back in Albuquerque. Thank you to the other mothers who responded to me, you helpped so much.

You are probably going to have an easy time of it. Bring anything with you that typically distracts her. Bring a nursing pillow (Boppy) to make it comfortable for her so hopefully she will sleep. Try to be the last ones on the plane...the least amount of time that couped up in a plane the better. Good luck!!

M.- I just finished my 5th flight with my 2 month old yesterday. He did great on all of them - including the 2 cross country (4+ hours) to Florida. They love the movement and noise. I nursed him going up and coming down, but otherwise he slept through almost all of it. I was told traveling with them while they are really little is easier than when they are closer to a year and I now believe it. Good luck, J.

My daughter and I have done this several times with her now 2 yr old. Suggest you check with the airport and airline regarding a buggy or stroller. Usually you can wheel the child to the bording ramp and the buggy will go into the luggage compartment to be unloaded when you arrive at your destination. Secondly, take some toys that will entertain her (uietly) and ask the pediatrician and/or pharmacist about ear drops. Ear popping is worse for little ones than it is for the average adult. It also quiets them. Good luck and God bless your husband, child and you. My daughter is married to an Air Force Sgt and my grandson is a Marine, so we understand the need to travel. Happy Holidays!
