Ambyopia is a condition that is easily treated in young children with glasses. And that's exactly what your opthalmologist is doing. The earlier it is treated, the better and more successful the correction.

I agree with Michelle, at that age you'll need to use a glasses strap. The optricians can assist you in getting everything you need to keep those glasses on your boy. :-)

I doubt that his vision problems are affecting his behavior. Toddler boys are tornadoes of energy, broken toys and toppled over furniture. It's just the way most of them are.

My son was the same age. Eye turned. He is farsighted. Never a problem keeping glasses on because he could see so much better. Then at about four or so it was a challenge but it passed quickly. Get insurance on glasses if you can. 18 month olds are yes little monkeys. Has nothing to do with eyes.

My DD had/has the same issue. She's 4.5 now.
She got her glasses at 18mos, and I thought it would be a fight to keep them on, but I think that once she realized that she could actually SEE wearing them, she didn't fight it. You might be surprised that it's not a problem.

For the eye...we've had to patch my daughter's, and it hasn't worked. they're just increasing her prescription now and watching it steadily. (The patching really sucked. She did fight us on that.) I've never noticed any behavioral issues as a result of the eye. She's just a busy rambunctious kid, just like my son, who does not wear glasses.

I had a little guy in my care that required glasses. We definitely had an issue trying to keep them on him. Putting a glasses strap on them (one like you might have for sunglasses) really helped.
