Glass Container with Plastic Shell?

Does anyone know of a glass container with a plastic shell?

Anotherwords, food for a child goes in a small glass container, which fits into (or is joined with) a plastic outer shell?

So, if the kid drops it, it will not shatter, but the food is touching only glass, not plastic.

Right now, I don't care if the lid is plastic or not, I just would like to find something safe - and non-breakable.

Thanks.

S.

I don't know about a glass container such as you describe, but if the purpose is to have food safely packed in a non-plastic container, you might try: www.lifewithoutplastic.com and/or www.lunchbots.com. Both of those sites offer stainless steel and culinary-safe wood products intended for food storage and transport, and both have kid-friendly sites. On the Life Without Plastic site, look under "child and baby products" and you'll find children's lunch box sets.

The only ones I have seen are very breakable but when they do the glass is contained in the plastic.

Try New Seasons or Whole Foods-- they likely have a glass container that you are looking for. I haven't seen anything like a plastic shell, other than a sturdy lunchbox. Some of my preschoolers would bring their lunches in what you describe; the glass was very thick and strong. Kids may need help snapping the lids back on.

Here's one idea:

I think if you are looking for 100% non-breakable, that's going to be difficult to find. Maybe teach your kid to be careful with it?

That sounds like the old fashioned Thermos brand (70's and before) and I don't think they make them anymore. Thermos does make some that are medal inside and plastic outside with a plastic lid but they done come apart.

I use them all the time for hot or cold foods.
