Give It Back?

I was given a wonderful nursery set from a friend of mine. She has recently requested to have it back. Unfortunatly it was put in the wash with a pen and has a few blue spots on it. The friend did give it to me but I will be more than happy to give it back. How can I explain. (It was from her first born child)

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

I have emailed my friend since I can't get ahold of her via phone, and let her know that I have gotten pen on the baby quilt and when she had time I could meet with her to give the set back. No response as of yet. Nervous because unfortunatly our friendship is teetering on the edge this might make it go over. Just to let everyone know!

I think you should give it back and just explain what happened. I loaned things to my friends (I did explain that I wanted it back because I knew we'd have another child) but I understood that by loaning it, I was taking the chance it could be broken/ruined/stained. In fact, one of my loans was totally destroyed in the washer. I just accepted it as part of the process of loaning. If she's terribly upset, you may want to offer to buy a replacement set. However, I think an explanation and apology will go along way.

Try to wash it one more time This time use hair spray on the pen marks. Soak it real good with the hairspray and then wash it again. If it doesnt come out then return it anyways and just explain, you could always offer to buy a new one but I think most people understand that accidents happen, they wouldnt lend it out if they didnt think that it may happen.

Hello~

Go and buy a new nursery set and enclose the other set with a card explaining what had happened in the wash. Let us hope that she can start new memories with the new set. I think it is a little stange that she would have "loaned" you something so sentimental when "spit-up happens",etc. when dealing with infants. Hope that helps. ;)

Hi T.,
I would just explain what happened and if she's a friend she'll understand. If it was given to you then she can't expect it to be in perfect condition. I was given a crib and then the person requested it back. It was still in good condition but my son chewed on the side. She was a little mad but she was lucky to get it back in my opinion. I was pregnant for my second and we had to buy another crib. Good luck
Chris

If she gave it to you to USE then she has to expect that she might not get it back in the exact same condition that it was. Other than the fact that it might get washed with a pen =) it just as easily could've been stained by spit-up, poop, kool-aid or who knows what else! lol Just give it back to her and say thank you for letting you use it.

As some of the others have already said, explain what happened. If she is that close of a friend to lend you something like that, she should be aware of what children can do to things, even things like spit up and such. She may still want it back and she may not. She can decide.

Hi T., have you tried putting alcohol, or hairspray on the ink? Sometimes that will work, if there's alot it may not. Good Luck you may have to tell her if it does'nt come out.
