Girls Shoes??

My daughter is 7 and will need some new shoes (sneakers) soon. She really wants those high tops that go up higher than the ankle high tops. I'm not sure what they are called, but they look like they would go maybe 2-3 inches below the knee. They are really cute, but would they be comfortable? If your daughter (or you) has them, how are they? She will have to be able to run in P.E. class with them and pretty much wear them daily. We are not big shoe people, lol, and we have 1 pair of dress shoes, 1 pair of flip flops for summer and 1 pair of sneakers for daily use. So, I wonder about her socks bunching up and sliding off when she is wearing them. I know I probably sound stupid right now because it's such an odd question. She won't get to try them on either because I was going to get them for her for christmas, but I know what size she is (she was just sized last week). So, tell me about them? I know they are cute, but are they practical?
Thanks!

So What Happened?

ok thanks for all the advice. She loves the style of them. She is way more fashionable than me, lol! At her school, they are not allowed time to change their shoes for PE class, but I think she only has it 2 days a week. So, I will go ahead and get them, but just check the calendar for the PE days and she can wear regular tennis shoes on that day.
The ones I was looking at for her were from the children's place for $29. I'm not paying $60 for sketchers, lol!

Thanks!

We do not own a pair but I would think these are strictly for fashion and would not provide the proper support for physical activity. If you decide to go that way I would purchase a regular pair of athletic tennis shoes for phys ed and any other sports she might play.

I think you are talking not just about regular "high tops" but the fashionable super-high tops that look like a boot (they go to just below the knee) but are a lace-up sneaker, right?

I would definitely not advise wearing those for gym at school. Our gym teachers and coach make kids change out of any form of boot and into regular sneakers (the gym keeps a stash of extra sneakers) for gym. These are basically boots, not real athletic shoes. Get them for her just for fun if you want but don't expect them to double as supportive athletic shoes.

You say she'd have to wear them daily but she also can't try them on. Not a great combination of factors there. She may love the look but quickly find it irritating to have something laced up over her whole calf all day, every day. Just something to think about.I would get her one pair of good, quality sneakers for gym days and playground visits and a cheap, knockoff pair of these high-top-boots for fun, rather than an expensive name brand version.

My girls' best friend recently got a pair. She got marked down for PE because they are not allowed. Like others have said, let her wear them for fashion, not for gym. They really are not gym shoes.

As you know I don't have a young daughter anymore...however...my boys have a girl friend...Grace ....and she has those...well, a pair like this...

she loves them - however if the wearer does NOT like "boots" - they will not like these shoes...

hope that helps!!!

Hi, C.:

My daughter wore high top sneakers called "Keds" back in those
days.

Girls need to look "cute" when they are out on their own buying their own
"cute" things.

Buy her high top sneakers and save the "cute" boot sneakers for her wedding day.

Good luck.
