I have been on all sorts of birth control and i can honestly say that as myuchas i liked the IUD it is not for everybody. there are three types of iud's the very first iud i believe has been put out of business because it was from the 70's and because nothing is ever positive it caused problems since then they have mde them much better. now there are two different types of iuds that are more recent one lasts for ten years but causes major cramping around that time of month and the other is plastic. thats the one i had. its called a mirena iud. thats lasts for five years. it almost completely eliminates periods even though you will have spotting from time to time and it also causes some cramoing during that time of month. but not bad. like i said before its not for everybody. my body rejected having it in there after a few months and made me terribly sick. and it had to be removed. and since then i have tried to have it put back in place but its too painful for me to even attempt. so we had to move on to different things. and yes it is painful to have the iud put in place. maybe more for some than othersbut you feel it being put in after that you dont know its there. anyways the other things that i used was called a nuva ring and i loved that. it worked great and it was easy to dealwith. you dont evenknow its there. its just a little blue ring that goes up there for three weeks a nd then you take it out for your monthly visitor. during the three weeks its in you dont even know its there. as for the shot i wouldnt suggest it makes you put on weight and sometimes if you take it too long and decide to go off to have more children you might notbe able to. good luck

There's this thing called a T that is great for pregnancy prevention. It's something your gyno inserts into your uterus and it's good for 5 years and then you just redo the process. Ask you gyno about it. I know many people that have it and it's a sure-fire way to prevent pregnancy. You can also get it removed at anytime if you decide to have anymore kids. Hope I could help!!

There is nothing that is 100% but since you don't like pills use a Diaphram. At least it won't harm your body like an IUD could.
Good Luck! Miami Beach isn't that far from Miami Lakes so you can visit anytime. I love the beach area too.

Hi A. I'm a lil late responding and as I checked some of your responses I see most of us are thinking alike I agree the IUD or Coil as it is known is great. It's about 95-98% safe there are 2 types 1 that contains copper last for about 5-10 years(best)and the other contains progestin which has to be replace every year. It's inserted by your doctor and you check to feel if your strings are in place if not see your doctor ASAP (this object is small and can move out of place due to rigorous sex. The side effects are pelvic pain, cramps, heavy(sometimes painful) periods, vaginal discharges. Pros; you don't forget to take anything, you don't have to get ready for sex your always prepared, no wait gain, hormonal changes etc. Cons; Does not protect against STD's like the condom does,painful side effects& heavy periods. I love it and highly recommend it want to know more ask your doctor or type in your search bar IUD birth control. Best wishes, Majority Rules

Hi A.;

It's called Depo; at least that's the short name. At first it's great but when I look at my old pictures, I look like a moose. It keeps you quite bloated and you don't get a period. That was the great part. If you plan on having more children, don't do it. Also, I eventually had a lot of joint point and other side effects.

If I had to do it all over again, I wouldn't.

By the way. It didn't get my period for three years on it. Like I said at first, I thought it was great but it really isn't.

Hi A.!

The best thing for me was the IUD without hormones. Didn't have to worry about taking a pill every morning.

Make sure that you get the one without any hormones so you won't have to worry about gaining any weight.

Good Luck!

Hi A.!

I reently had my 2nd child in November and after my 1st visit back to the doctor he asked what birth control i wanted. Shots were definitely out of the question. I'm not responsible with pills. So, he suggested the Mirena, an IUC (intrauterine contreceptive). You can read about it on www.mirena.com. It's small little plastic thing with strings on the end. It takes about 10 minutes for the procedure. It may be a little uncomfortable. You will feel some cramps the 1st couple of days and it may also feel light you have a tampon stuck there (at least that is what it felt like for me). The doctor caughts off the strings but leaves it long enough when it is time to take it out. For about the first 3 - 4 months, you will have spotting so that will be annoying. But after that, once you get your period, it may be a very light period that won't last long or you may not even get it all. I've only been on it since February and I feel good about the choice I made. It is also suppose to be the best contreceptive out at there. I would suggest to do your research and check with your insurance to see if it's covered (I had to pay $80 co-pay). Oh, plus the mirena lasts for 5 years. I hope this helps. Good luck!
