So my husband trains for triathlons and is working toward his first Iron Man this August. As you can imagine SEVERE caloric deficeits arise and he needs to replace his calories to function. Each year, we order a case of thin mints. This year, my thin mint hook up didn't place our order and I didn't get them. HELP! Husband uses these cookies in a shake and needs them to function well after training (I've tried just regular cookies, it doesn't work).
Everyone was very helpful. Natosha helped me out with a case of thin mints! I am also going to make sure that DH is in charge of getting them from now on :)
Have you tried the Keebler Grasshopper cookies? I don't know if ingredients make the difference and do not know what the differences are, but they taste nearly as good.

My advice so that you are not searching hi and lo is to call the Local Girl Scout Counsel in Grand Rapids, They will have them to sell by the cases or can refer you to what troops (units) have them available.

Keebler is the manufacturer of Girl Scout cookies. They also sell "grasshopper" cookies in the cookie isle, made by Keebler. I think they would be very similar, if not the same. Girl Scout Cookies® Thin Mints
If those cute little cookie peddlers aren't posted outside the market, it may be tough to get your hands on these - the most popular cookies sold by the Girl Scouts each year. One out of every four boxes of cookies sold by the girls is Thin Mints. This recipe uses an improved version of the chocolate wafers created for the Oreo cookie clone in the second TSR book "More Top Secret Recipes." That recipe creates 108 cookie wafers, so when you're done dipping, you'll have the equivalent of three boxes of the Girl Scout Cookies favorite. (See? That's why you bought those extra cookie sheets.) You could, of course, reduce the recipe by baking only 1/3 of the cookie dough for the wafers and then reducing the coating ingredients by 1/3, giving you a total of 36 cookies. But that may not be enough to last you until next spring.
Chocolate Cookie Wafers
1 18.25-ounce package Betty Crocker chocolate fudge cake mix
3 tablespoons shortening, melted
1/2 cup cake flour, measured then sifted
1 egg
3 tablespoons water
Non-stick cooking spray
Coating
3 12-ounce bags semi-sweet chocolate chips
3/4 teaspoon peppermint extract
6 tablespoons shortening
1. Combine the cookie ingredients in a large bowl, adding the water a little bit at a time until the dough forms. Cover and chill for 2 hours.
2. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
3. On a lightly floured surface, roll out a portion of the dough to just under 1/16 of an inch thick. To cut, use a lid from a spice container with a 1 1/2-inch diameter (Schilling brand is good.) Arrange the cut dough rounds on a cookie sheet that is sprayed with a light coating on non-stick spray. Bake for 10 minutes. Remove the wafers from the oven and cool completely.
4. Combine chocolate chips with peppermint extract and shortening in a large microwave - safe glass or ceramic bow. Heat on 50 percent power for 2 minutes, stir gently, then heat for an addition minute. Stir once again, and if chocolate is not a smooth consistency, continue to zap in microwave in 30-second intervals until smooth.
5. Use a fork to dip each wafer in the chocolate, tap the fork on the edge of the bowl so that the excess chocolate runs off, and then place the cookies side-by-side on a wax paper - lined baking sheet. Refrigerate until firm.

There are two different bakers that make cookies for the nation: Little Brownie Bakers and ABC Bakers. The Thin Mints from the Little Brownie bakers are MUCH better than from ABC!!! If you've always gotten the ABC cookies, you'll be pleasantly surprised with the Little Brownie cookies--trust me!!

Kroger use to carry girl scout cookies, but I don't know if they still do.

My daughter is a brownie and we just finished taking orders for this season, but many times you can order from the Girl Scout office. They are located next to Art Vans in Traverse City. Also many troops will start selling at Cookie Booths set up out side of local stores. I know our troop starts selling April 18 at Wal-mart and Sams Club from 4:30-6:30.

Have you tried Keebler's Grasshopper cookies? They are similar to thin mints and have about 140 calories per serving vs. the thin mint's 150 calories so they may work in your husband's calorie shake.

Try the office of Girl Scouts on Cedar Street in Holt. Sometimes they sell cookies after the troops have completed their sales and they have extra cookies left to sell to the public on a drop in basis. Hope they have them. Good luck to your husband on his Iron man and your hunt for the cookies.
I just tried for the first time the other day, the Oreo cookies with the green filling. They taste exactly like the Girl Scouts Thin Mints. Try'em they are great tasting and may work for your husbands need.
Im not sure where u live but I was at sears in woodland mall(grand rapids) the other day and there was a table set up by the main entrance..also usually Walmart does that.

Keebler sells the same cookies (called grasshoppers) and of course they are cheaper. Nothing against Girl Scouts, as I used to be a troup leader when my daughter was younger. I was very surprised to find that they do taste like the GS version.
