We go all of the time. It is the perfect day trip from where you live. It takes just about an hour if traffic is normal. We get there when it opens and are usually ready to go home around 2 or 3. If you want to make it a weekend getaway you can go over mount madonna and spend the night in Capitola and have a beach day.

It's been several years but I remember we enjoyed it. It's only good for REALLY little kids though, like 8 and under.
I remember it being very pretty and really clean and...expensive! We didn't spend the night though, we just did a day trip (I'm near you, in Orinda!)

I was just there this weekend. I spent the night nearby at the Best Western Plus Forest Park Inn. This was my second time there. The first time, I didn't have any issues, but this time, the beds and pillows didn't seem as comfortable. Different room I guess. We had the continental breakfast that was included in the room rate. They had cereal, bread/pastries, oatmeal, eggs, bacon , breakfast potatoes, and fresh made waffles. They had juice, milk, and coffee to drink. My husband said the bacon was chewy so I skipped that. But the kids loved the waffles.

Overall, I'd say it was an okay place to stay. Not great, but not terrible and it served our desire to be close to Gilroy Gardens. I'd consider staying there again, but would probably try to get a room that didn't face out next time. It was clean on the inside and breakfast was taken care of. The room had a fridge, microwave, hair dryer, and probably a coffee maker. I don't drink coffee so I didn't check that out. The A/C fan was a little loud so if you don't like noise at night, run it before bedtime to cool down the room.

There is a restaurant across the parking lot which is convenient if you want to do dinner there. We did take out from there and ate in our rooms. For whatever reason, it was noisier outside the hotel this time around too. It wasn't the hotel's fault, but someone decided to light off some fireworks or loud firecrackers somewhere down the street.

It doesn't seem like there are many hotels that are super close to Gilroy Gardens, but if you wanted to drive just a little further, you could also try looking in Morgan Hill.
