I am a daycare provider and have never expected anything but in the past I have liked the stuff that the kids had made the best - a card with a picture.
Trying to fingure out what is a decent but inexpensive gift to give my sitter, She is a family friend and so we always take ove a tray of cookies, but would like to get something a little more since she is my babysitter now. I was thinking about a 25.00 gift card from Walmart. Would this be alright?

Walmart gift card is nice especially for those of us that need that kind of help with finances.
Other things you might consider if she's young?
Does she get her nails done? (fill in $25, simple pedicure $25)
Do you know where she has her hair done?
Does she like Body Butter...Costco has a great set by Delon that is fantastic...I gave it to the lady I sit for and she's hooked. ($16)
Dear M.,
How very thoughtful of you to show appreciation for someone who takes care of your children. I know as a preschool teacher myself that I really appreciate all of the gifts parents give me. Its nice to be recognized in this way for the love and care I give to the children in my classroom.
I'm sure she will be very pleased with whatever you decide to give her. A gift card is wonderful and she can pick out something nice for herself. I was at Dominicks yesterday in Fox River Grove and they had the cutest little stockings with the Christmas display they had in the front of the store that I plan to put gift cards and lip gloss and little things in. A little change purse, stocking or some little thing to put the gift card in is fun and unique!
happy holidays!
I would recommend Target over Wal-mart. Or if you know she drinks coffee... starbucks is a good one too. :)
Hi M.,
Gift cards are a great idea if you ask me. You could also do a gift certificate for a manicure or pedicure. If she's a coffee drinker Starbuck's cards are great too.
Happy Holidays
Not sure where you live or how your sitter feels about Walmart, but I personally will NOT shop there for moral reasons. Maybe the equivalent from a different store if she's not a Walmart shopper (Target or Kohls or something). Just something to keep in mind. A $25 gift card sounds about right, though.
If she shops at Walmart, that would be great, otherwise, if you have a Target near by and she shops there. If you're not sure, a great idea is an American Express gift card. She could use that anywhere for anything, even for shopping online. I would find something cute to put the gift card in, for my nieces, I give them a target gift card and put it in a purse from the dollar section with something like a manicure set and lipgloss also from the dollar section. One year they had these cute little straw purses. This year they had rocker girl hand bags. It just makes giving a gift card more fun and it's cheaper than buying a gift bag.
