Do you have an REI? I just got this bag and I love it. Goes great from the park, to work to shopping with the kids. http://www.rei.com/product/827995/rei-tranquility-shoulde...
She's 40.
Pretty au natural.
Her only hobby is a great one: helping out chairities.
Runs.
Does not wear make up, fancy clothes or drink.
Has kids so she can't go places at the drop of a hat.
Has dogs & cats.
Any ideas for a gift? It does not need to be creative just something I haven't already given before.
I have some ideas but love hearing all of your ladies' different take on things. TIA

You know what I wish someone would get me as a gift? House cleaning service! Like a gift certificate for 1 free hour of house cleaning or something like that from merry maids or somewhere similar. I dont really need any "stuff". What I would like to have is more time to spend doing what I want to do rather than cleaning the stupid house!!
I would note that i think a close friend would appreciate this. A not as close friend might get offended thinking that you think their house is dirty or something so, just something to consider.
Well my first thought is to maybe donate money to a charity in her name and then write that in a card for her.
I also thought maybe some fun/funky handmade soaps or lotions. Also, there is a French company, I really can't remember the name (maybe something like La Provencial???), but I know I'd recognize it, that sells amazing soaps!! They smell so good!! I've found them in speciality shops and our Dean and Deluca sells them. They make different products too but even for a shower gel girl like me, I love those soaps and will use them in the shower! And my husband uses them too.
You could always give her a gift card to a dog/cat spa or day care. Maybe she would like that if she really loves her animals.
A great book
A running coach/ gift certificate to a run shop/ pay the admission fees for a charity 5K
take your waffle iron and make belgian waffles with fresh berries and whipped cream for a weekend brunch, midweek unusual dinner.
a journal
a spa day
take the kids overnight, take them fishing the next day, leave her with pancake mix and syrup, tell her to sleep in. bring the kids back in time for bathtime.
theater/opera/ ballgame tickets?
I'm sure you'll come up with something awesome.

how much are you willing to spend? my runner (au natural) friend (also in her 40s) loves her asics gel nimbus. amazon will have the best price.
Maybe some nice bath and body stuff. I never spend money on stuff like that but if someone else does, I really enjoy their extravagance!
Gift card and a nice hand written card. She can then do what ever she would like to do.
Go shopping at a thrift store that supports a great charity! Our Humane Society has a nice one. You may find something really nice, but you can also buy something funny or original and do something fun with it. Like buy a cheap vase or flower pot (or something less typical that can be used as a vase or flower pot), make an extra donation to the charity in your friend's name, then fill the vase with flowers and add a card describing where you got the vase and made the donation.
