My 5 year old LOVES superheroes, bakugon, pkemon and is starting to really enjoy games like go phish or connect 4. He lost interest in Thomas and Sesame Street a while ago...
My daughter has been invited to several birthday parties for some of the boys in her preschool class. I have two girls and don't really know what 4 year old boys might like for gifts. Can anyone clue me in? Can any of you Moms with little boys around this age share what their kids really love? I'd like to find gifts in the $15.00-$20.00 range.
Thanks!

i have a 4 yr old boy and he is very into tools. toys r us has a bunch of home depot and black and decker toys and he would love any of them.
He was never into Thomas but loves Hot Wheels. He just had a birthday party a couple of weeks ago and many people got him character specific toys (batman, toy story, mickey mouse, spiderman) none of which he is into. I agree that it is risky to get something like that unless you really know the child.
Boys like vehicle toys - cars, trucks, etc and building sets like Duplo.
My little guy is almost 4 1/2. He loves Geotrax, Legos/Duplo blocks, Gorilla blocks (large building blocks). He also loves Magnet tiles, basically anything you can build with. He is also really into animals, although I do believe that is him specifically and not general. And of course cars and trucks, esp fire and construction trucks.
Good luck.
Hi B.,
I have two boys one is 5 & the other is 7. They are very much into hot wheels cars, Pokemon & anything with super heroes. Good luck!!
I am right there with you, as a mom of three girls when I got my first invite to a boys party I started to twitch, there is nothing pink or frilly in the boys dept.
I would say that at 4 years old you can't go wrong with Legos :-D
My little boy will be 4 & he has no interest in Thomas at all (neither did my 2 older boys), so toys of that nature might not be the best idea. If these boys are not ones that you know well, you're better off refraining from getting anything with specific characters. Cars are usually pretty safe choices as are craft activities. Honestly, I prefer Target or Toys R Us gift cards so that I can get my son exactly what he likes. What I usually do when I'm buying for someone I don't really know is buy some small toy so that the child has something fun to open & then include a $15 gift card with that.
My son is turning 4 tomorrow! His birthday party is today!
I would also agree with hot wheels and Thomas...although Hot Wheels are def. more affordable for that price range.
My first was all into hot wheels at 4...my little guy (the one who is turning 4) is very random. But he is totally into games and card games right now. Uno, He asked for that fishing game when the fish open their mouths and you have to catch them with the magnetic pole...ha. Don't Break the Ice was another one he said he wanted. OR, he would always LOVE a gift certificate to Chuck E Cheese!!! :) We got him the new Hess truck...well race car for his birthday. Of course after having 2 boys I think shopping for boys is easier!! :)
Good luck. :)
Thomas the Tank Engine is popular at this age. Another popular toy is Hot Wheels cars.
