Hi I have a very dear cousin who lost his toes in Iraq He is in ALOT of pain and trying to cope. His wife is about to go nuts taking care of him and there 22 mon old daughter.
I want to send them a family sunshine box for Christmas.
I can think of things for the mom and little girl but I need ideas of what to get a wonderful guy like this that is not too expensive but would be fun and help take his mind off the pain.
Thank you all so much!!

What can I do next?

Get them a bunch of things he can play with his daughter. TinkerToys, MagnaDoodle, Monkeys in a Barrel, Chutes/Ladders, Candyland, counting bears, crayons...

Things so that he is bonding with and occupying the baby while she is bonding with and occupying him. That'll give the wife a break, and take his mind off things too.

Tell your cousin "thank you" from me for serving our county. God bless him and his family.
Some ideas...books, games, movies, gift card to like sonic or chick-fil-a where he can just go and get some ice cream or a soda.
Merry Christams!

What about a book? I don't know of a specific one to offer, but I'm sure at the bookstore you can ask and find soemthing inspiring or just funny. Or a movie. There are tons of movies that are inspiring (We are Marshall comes to mind as does the one about the Jamacian bobsled team) or funny. I'm sure you thought of this, but a gift card for dinner would be nice, or even contacting her church/friend/relative that lives close and exressing that you think this family could use meals during this time would be totally helpful.

Your cousin is in our prayers. Is there anyone where they live that you can contact to provide the family with a week or two of meals cooked so his wife does not have to worry about that and she can concentrate on him? That would be a great gift for the family. Also, in the box I like the idea of handheld games, some homemade cards, favorite snacks, favorite sports team items like a shirt or hat etc., movies, books and/or magazines. Since my husband was in the military and I use to send him boxes I will ask him and get back to you with more ideas.

How thoughtful of you....:)

Is he bedridden at the moment? How about movies or magazines.

The movies could fit into your fmaily theme. Maybe a favorite game to play as a family as well.

Where is your cousin? My husband is a certified peer mediation cousnelor for amputees at the Dallas VA; he lost his leg in an Air Force training accident. If they are not local perhaps we can hook them up via email, your cousin needs the peer assistance! Get him a gadget like hand held games (you can get inexpensive ones like Yahtzee, Poker, etc. at Wal-Mart).
