Gift for Swim Teacher of Eight Days?

Our daughter is finishing swim classes today and I'm wondering if I need to give a gift to the swim teacher? I don't even know the main teacher's name as it's only an eight-day (1/2 hour each) session. The teacher who's helped our daughter has been nice in helping her deal with her fears, but I'm wondering if a personal thank you note would suffice? Would you feel compelled to also offer a gift card after such a short class?

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thank you! This helps a lot. I was leaning toward not giving anything but didn't want to be the bum parent who didn't do anything. Our son's swim sessions were always several months long, so I felt like there was a reason to give a gift then, but just wasn't sure what people did during shorter sessions. Thanks, again!

A note is perfect. If your daughter is old enough to sign it, that would be sweet too.

A thank you card would be good enough. I would not give a gift for such a short class.

No, you don't need to give a gift.

For 1-week swim lessons, I've had my kids help decorate/sign thank you notes and maybe add a little something like a flower from the garden

No -you only need to give gifts if you want to for teachers at the end of a school year or other long engagement.

No. I would not give it another thought, a note is a nice thought, but even that is not expected, and would probably be a first, or at least an oddity to a swim instructor of 8 days. I would say a big hug and a thank you from the child would be enough.

I absolutely think giving a small gift is completely appropriate regardless of how long the child is taking lessons. Instructors give up their time to teach your child. Yes, they are making money too. But a gift and/or thank you note is a wonderful way to show your child that saying "thank you" is good manners and it's a nice way to show the instructor you appreciate them.

My 5 yo son will be completing his survival swim lessons this week and we will be giving his instructor a nice card w/ a Starbucks GC. It's not much, but my son will be excited to give it to her and I know she will love it!
