Gift for Second-time Mom

My friend (who lives on the opposite side of the country as me) is expecting a baby girl later this month. She has a 3 year-old boy. I'm sure she's gotten some nice gifts from family and other friends. I'm having a tough time coming up with a good gift idea to send to her. Any suggestions?

What can I do next?

if she has a 3 year old, she probably already has all the suess books. if not, get them for her! ALL of them. :)
i like that you're thinking 'gifts for mom' instead of baby gifts. the tiny girl won't care, the mom needs it more. can you get her a big ol' maid service? i just had my first. it was $120 for the initial visit, subsequent ones will be less, and i'm thrilled. i'm betting most expectant moms would love to have the house spit-shined one last time before they go in, what with nesting and so forth, but not have the oomph to do it all themselves. i'd have loved it!
or a meal delivery service for a few days after she gets home.

gift certificates for food, food. a basket of chocolates and other yummy food items, fruit basket, meals broght to the home so she des not have to cook for a few weeks after babys born. spa gift certificate, giftcards for places she shops for things like diapers. and you could check to see if shes got a wishlist for amazon or some place else. (ever sicnce i created a registry for my firstborn i have kept an up to date wishlist on amazon so i don't have to think of b-day and christmas gifts right there on the spot. mil loves the list and loves that she does not have to ask people what we want, she can shop and get us stuff we want and then were happy with what we get and she knows we got what we wanted)

My sister is having her second baby in 2 weeks, well 2 weeks from tomorrow if she makes it that long. The gift my mom and I got her was a professional house cleaning right before baby comes...so she will come home to a completely spotless and clean home. She LOVED it.

We are also prepping a few meals. Her husband's company just gave everyone three days worth of Blue Apron dinners and she said they are great! So you could order something like that for her.

I have ordered Thing 1 (in the older kid's size) and Thing 2 (in an infant size) for several families. They all liked them. https://www.artfire.com/ext/shop/home/carefreetees

Is this for mom or the baby?

When I had my kids after my first I loved things like gift cards for my favorite pizza place, or a spa treatment. It just made it something to look forward to. Or a magazine subscription. I don't think anyone does those any more .. but it was really thoughtful - nice to get something every month just for me :)

For baby (think you're asking about mom) a gift card to Babies R Us or somewhere she can pick up something she does not have. When I had a different sex than what we'd had previously, I always needed a few basics.

Good luck :)

My favorite gifts for number 2 were meals for sure. You could have a pizza delivered to them. Edible arrangements would be awesome too.

If you don't want to go the food route, we also got clothes and blankets and room decor for the new one. It's nice to have new things and not just hand me downs the second time around.

Also, a few people got my oldest a gift as well. We really appreciated that, he loved it, and felt included too. Good luck!

I had a friend order me "Dinners Ready" or something like that. They delivered dinner to my door for 3 nights. It was lovely.
OR...Baby's R Us gift card.
Order diapers on Amazon for her and have them delivered to her place.

Many years ago a friend send the "Here She Is" announcements for my second. All I had to do was buy the Hershey's bars and wrap them.

Pottery Barn kids has a really nice, soft stroller blanket that comes in a variety of colors. You can get it embroidered with the baby's name and birthdate. Both of my kids have them and they are really nice blankets. We've given a couple as gifts and I was just told last week that the daughter STILL loves the blanket and uses it every day, and she's four years old.

Some great idea given. I would avoid diapers only because many newborns get rashes if they switch brands.

-A gift card from a place like Target with a thoughtful trinket such as a stuffy or pretty outfit. I like to give a real item with the gift card.

-I love the idea of the baby blanket with the name. This would most likely need to be sent after the birth.
