I'm about to go to my 6 week post partum appt and I want to bring something to my OBGYN like a little thank you gift. This was my second baby she delivered (i didnt give her a gift after first child) so this time I want to give her something. Any ideas? I want something more than just candy or a card but not sure what is appropriate. She is a female I was thinking maybe a perfume gift set or a scarf? A gift certificate to a restaurant? Has anyone gifted their obgyn? I also want to bring some candy for her office staff.

What can I do next?

It's just my personal preference, that I don't give perfume as gifts. Oh, unless I know they like and want perfume...of course! Doctors can't really wear perfume at the office. I know I can't even wear perfume, because it causes me to sneeze. What smells good is incredible subjective. Honestly, I just gave an "office" gift to me OBGYN. (I was especially high risk, so she worked very hard and went beyond.) I gave a chocolate basket, and they seemed delighted.

I gave my OBGYN gift cards after both of my children were born. She was providing a service, but her level of care was amazing, and she was so compassionate and kind, I felt like she deserved something nice. The first time, I got her a gift card to Barnes and Noble, the second time (since I knew she drank coffee) I got her one to Starbucks. Both times I included a care expressing my thanks.

I have never given any of my doctors a gift. I have brought homemade banana bread to my vet's office, but my vet is also a personal friend.

I would never give a gift to someone I am paying a large sum of money to for a service.

I'm going to be giving my midwife 3600 cash. This will be the second baby she helped delivery in my home. Payment is gift enough. I'll probably give her a few hugs too, and have hubby make her a meal after baby comes, but no gifts here.

I would give a nice thank you card or a fruit arrangement for the entire office, never a personal gift to the doctor. Or, a picture of your children to put on the wall, as many OB/GYN's do.

FYI, my SIL is the operations manager of a specialist's office, the doctor feels very wrong in accepting gifts for providing services to patients, she says "it's my job, what I'm trained to do." She won't insult and thanks the gift-giver, but all gifts she receives are put out for the office staff to enjoy if consumable, gift cards are turned over to my SIL to give to staff or donated to help those in need, pictures are put on the wall.

Never gave a gift. I agree with a previous poster...I had all c-sections. Why would I spend more? In any case, I gave a very personalized thank you card that I created myself on my computer with my card making software. I incorporated a picture of me holding the baby, and also a picture of my doctor holding my baby. When I went to a pre-natal appt with my last child, my doctor pulled out the special thank you card I had given him from my last child to show me that he still had it. I was truly touched and that means more to me that he kept it, than any "gift" that will not be long lasting.
