Hey ladies,
I need some ideas on some gift ideas for some co-workers/ boss of my husbands. Just the other day my husband was laid off. The next morning he received a call from the President of the company apologizing to him and asking him to come back and work for them, telling him they made a mistake and they should have never laid them off. Later he found out his boss and a bunch of co-workers went and had a meeting with the president to tell them they made a mistake and how wonderful my husband is at his job. It brought me to tears when I found out what they did for him. So my question is what kind of a thank you gift should I get them. I really want to say thank you and let them know how thankful we are! there is around 7-10 of them. Thanks in advance! :)

What can I do next?

Hi Jo Anne! What a heartfelt story! We went through something a little similar a few weeks ago, only my husband was not laid off, he was sent home for the week due to a miscommunication and a supervisor that behaved very irrationally. Anyways, I have a few ideas for you:
Edible arrangements makes beautiful fruit baskets that you could send, anything from Harry & Davids (I love Moose Munch), Holiday Cards, Gift certificates to Starbucks, homemade goodies if you bake, etc...

Hope these ideas help!

A personal letter would definitely be the most appreciated gift of all. It is amazing that someone would stick their neck out for him when they could risk endangering their own job! What an inspirational story. Thanks for sharing!

Wow that was so terrific of them!!! How about baking them something. like homemade cookies or a cake? especially around the holidays. food is a great treat.:) or possibly you can invite them all to dinner at your house or something? They sound like they really care about your husband; so he should keep them close. Great people that stick up for you like that are hard to find.

wine is always nice. although if i were your husband i'd be looking for another place to work. i don't believe people could make a mistake that large.

OH WOW....what a breath taker this story is! I am so happy that it was a mistake, and God Bless his boss and co-workers going to bat for him!
Well, homemade goodies will always work like Cookies, or a Cake, Or you can get a CheeseCake Platter from Sam's Club! That has a variety of flavors of cheesecake! YUM-O! Can't go wrong with food! You can get each one a Christmas Decorative can/bottle of Nuts, or PopCorn! Target has the PopCorn ones, and I've seen the Nuts at WalMart.
Just remember to 'keep it simple'. It's the little things that count and your generosity will be appreciated no matter what you decide! :-)

I definitely agree that individual thank-you notes are the most meaningful and appreciated. Maybe write those notes on handmade cards to make it even more personal. If you need help with that, I can help as I am a Creative Memories consultant (www.mycmsite.com/tiffanynowacki). I also agree with Jennifer R. that you need to consider your budget given that many people. I think you should consider your own talents. Do you like to cook or bake? If so, a "thank-you" basket may work. You could do a large one for the entire group and have it in their community work area or do smaller individual baskets. I also like the idea of hosting a special "thank-you" party for them, but I like hosting parties ~ do you? Again, do what feels right for you. If you'd like to discuss various ideas (never any sales pressure from me ~ if you worry about that) or would just like to bounce your ideas off of somebody, please feel free to contact me. I'm happy to help! Good luck and a VERY Merry Christmas! Sounds like your family is truly blessed!

Wow, what a gift to be thankful for, especially this time of year...

You already have some great ideas...
Most definitely a hand written personal note expressing your gratitude is the perfect response.
Consider your budget....$12 per gift sounds too high for that many people....
A home cooked meal or BBQ, if you have the time/energy/space to entertain is a fabulous thank you....
Take them all out for Pizza or Chinese food one Friday night after work....
Bring in donuts/coffee/ bagels....
Take them bowling, get a group rate and coupons off the web.

If you're intent on 'buying' something, I make the most wonderful bath salts. I purchase salts from around the world, (including Dead Sea Salts, Himalayan, Pacific Sea, Epsom, etc.) hand mix them with colloidal oatmeal, powdered milk, olive oil, etc. They are totally natural, no chemicals or perfumes, just essential oils for scent. They are packaged in a lovely organza bag for the ladies, muslin for the guys. I have just as many male customers as women. I sell them for just $5 a bag, about 2 cups/18 oz. per bag. These would cost over $25-$40 for a similar product at a spa.

Glad I looked planning your thank you.
Jennifer

It depends on what you can afford to do. Restaurant gift certificates are a nice thank you and so are home made baked goods and a nice thank you note or letter telling them how much you appreciate what they did. What a wonderful gift from them to stand up for your husband in that way!

I think he should start off with a handwritten personal letter to each of them expressing his appreciation for them team that they are and some compliments of their individual qualities. you could have them over for a little holiday get together or if it is too difficult in your home, a potluck in the park or something like that, unless it will be aleinating other coworkers, that could be harmful so a simple (delivered to their homes) hand-baked food item or hand-made gift item (like a framed photo...) may be appropriate. You don't want to do anything costly or to seem like you are made of money, it is just a token. I went to Big Lots the other day and purchased giant tins of popcorn for $5 or tins of cookies for $3 that look like $10-15 and handmade magnets (avery) on the computer to personalize, with a note, for office gifts.
It is nice that your husband is appreciated by his peers at work.
Enjoy.

I agree with the previous suggestions that a handwritten expression of thanks is the best gift. If you feel like you need to do something additional, what about bringing in breakfast to the office (bagels, cream cheese, banana bread, fruit, etc.)? Good luck and it is so wonderful to hear that there are people out there like your husband's boss and co-workers who truly care for others.

I agree with the thank you card and homemade gifts. I do homemade gifts for my husbands co-workers. Peanut butter balls, peanut clusters, and the Chocolate Toffee Bars (from the Joy of Cooking) Christmas cookies. I have all these recipes, plus one for carmels, banana bread, strawberry bread,
zucchini bread, and my friend makes a great cherry bread recipe I can get if you want any of these. I do them in the baby loaf pans. I have one pan that makes four baby loaves, and it is a good size then I buy a glass Christmas plate and put the bread and candies on it and use the wrapping paper (comes in clear, red or green that you can see through). His co-workers seem to really love it.

I will be happy to give you or anyone else these recipes too. Just respond and I will email them to you.

Take care. Whatever you do I would definitely do the note of thanks and appreciation.

I honesty what ever you do will show your appriciation. Here are some suggestions (and I dont know how much you want to spend either) There are movie tickets or See's candy gift certificates at Costco you an buy, or if they drink starbucks there are those. But one of the things that I find gets the best reaction is baked goods. Cookies and or banana bread are always a hit when I am thanking someone. Plus you can bake a couple of diffent cookies and make gift tins for them. They sell tins at $1 store. If you decide to bake and need any recipes feel free to message me and I will send you some that are a hit with my coworkers. I think its wonderful that you want to show how appriciative and greaful you are, and how wonderful his co-workers and boss are to make sure he go his job back. Hope this was helpful :)

Maybe something from the heart to show your appreciation, especially in a time like this. What if you cooked the best meal you think you can cook and invite them all over and show them you really appreciate what they did for your husband. Men love good home cooked meals. Then maybe you can go over to Things rememberd and get them some inexpensive money clips or that sort of thing. They had a really good sale over the weekend plus you can have it engraved as well. Good thing your Family angel was watching over you guys in a time like this! Happy Holidays.
