I stopped breastfeeding my 9 mo old boy girl twins about 2 months ago so that i could try to diet and lose alot of weight quickly. It didn't work, but that doesn't matter because now I want to start again even if its just at night or naps. I really miss the bond I am a stay at home mom so i have plenty of time on my hands and if you've never breastfed then you probably don't understand but i wanted to know if anyone knew how to get my milk back if its even possible i have gotten it back after a week or so but this seems like a really long time. I would really appreciate someones help.

What can I do next?

Hi K. J,
I know it is off the subject of your question. When we first moved I worked fulltime. I got pregnant a year later and after having my daughter I was home all day long with no adult conversation. It was okay for a while but when she was 4 months then I couldn't do it anymore. I searched for a local moms group so that I could have other moms to talk to. It has helped a great deal. I even started my own group when no one responded. I've made some great friends.
I just wanted to let you know there are 2 groups in the harrisburg area if you're interested and want to check them out. One is a moms group and the other is a new to town group. The one is The Harrisburg Stay At Home Moms Meetup Group and can be found at http://sahm.meetup.com/1559/?gj=sj2. The other one is called The Harrisburg New In Town Meetup Group can be found on meetup.com - http://newintown.meetup.com/653/?gj=sj2
I hope you find the answer to you question.
Thanks,
J.

Hopefully you can get some help, that was my advice! LLL or in my area we have Nursing Mothers' Advisory Council, who saved my bacon and my nursing relationship a couple times. I think it really depends, my supply dropped to nothing after a week+ severe illness, but fenugreek really helped get it back (though it makes you and your pee stink like maple syrup). And though I stopped nursing almost six months ago, I STILL get a teeny bit of milk once in a while, so I think it really depends on the person. Good luck to you though! Whatever you can manage to get it back up to is great.

There are some good resources out there on re-starting, kellymom.org has some info, and I recommend checking out a livejournal community called breastfeeding, they have a ton of info about relactation, and a really nice online support system for any questions you may have.

I understand what you mean. I breastfed all four of my children. After I had my third child, I had to have surgery when he was 5 months. I could breastfeed for over a week. By then he was getting too used to the bottle. I just took it slow, by pumping my milk and breastfeeding more frequently. The more you do both, the more your milk will come back. It might take awhile, but be patient. Then you will see that they will be back to the same routine.

Hi, I can understand you missing the bond from breastfeeding. I breastfed my son for a year. I loved it. There is nothing like it. My advice has nothing to do with how to get your milk back but I wish you luck. I noticed that you had stopped to try to lose weight. I just wanted to make a suggestion. In my area there are fitness classes for moms called Baby Boot Camp. I am sure there are classes in your area too. I know that having twins it must be difficult to go anywhere but these classes are for you and you can bring your babies. They will help with losing the weight and you can also make some new "mommy" friends. Good luck to you with getting your milk back, I wish I could help.
