Pedialite would be good to give and to keep around. I agree with the BRAT diet. Hang in there...sounds like you're doing fine and she's on the mend! I know it can be a little scary!
I need a little help with my daughter. She is 2 1/2 and for the first time she threw up on Saturday night a couple of times. I think that she ate something that didn't agree with her cause she never had diarrhea and didn't run a fever. Well yesterday she was back to normal and I gave her dry toast, crackers and some chicken broth and she held everything down. I kept her home from school because today would be the first day she would have solids and I wanted to make sure that she would not get diarrhea. Well I don't really know what I should give her. For breakfest she had 2 plain pancakes she did fine but for lunch I tried to give her chicken & rice soup and she wouldn't eat it. The reason I am in a stump is because I don't know what I should give her the rest of today and or tomorrow for lunch when she goes back to school. Fruit is too acidic, cheese might give her the runs, chicken fingers are too greesy, etc....
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you,
R. J.

Hi R.,
When my daughter had the same thing I would give her bananas, since it's the only fruit recomended in that case for it has calium to help prevent dehidratation. As far as vegetables, you should cook lite soup with rice and potato. I just put teaspoon of olive oil, sliced potato and rice. My daughter would also eat some white fish like tilapia (you could cook that with rice and potato) for example and dry toast. My friend said to give her some pediasure or cool aid also to prevent dehidratation.
I hope this helps at all...
Don't worry, they usually go through this much easier than we do :)
Good luck to you and your little one!

I wish I could offer more..but all I remember when my little guy got sick was Adult Yogurt. It supposably has natural cultures in it that are good for upset stomachs. Good Luck
R.,
Kudos for not sending your Daughter out to spread whatever she has!! You know that there is a bug going aroind?? I think it is a virus and sometimes the diarehha dies not hit for a few days.
\ Unless your Daughter has a lactose allergy the cheese would be nire likely to bind her up of it does anything. It soinds to me that most any food that she likes would be alright. I agree that fruit would be a little too acidic however if she likes cherries or blackberries a few might be OK.

BRAT diet is recommended as they've said above.
It sounds like she's pretty much over it, though. If you're not seeing any other symptoms, you can probably go back to feeding her a normal diet of things she likes.
Hope she's better! My 3 y/o just had puking and v. high fever. It was so scary. :(
We have always used the BRAT diet...stands for Bananas, Rice, Applesauce and Toast. Hope she feels better soon.
Bananas, Rice, Apples, Toast, then Yogurt with active cultures (BRATY diet). Gatorade for electrolytes lost during vomiting/diarrhea. Peanut butter (for protein, after everything else sits well in her tummy). Popsicles for being such a good patient! Good luck -
