1) wear gloves.
2) Invest in some weed killer and use it liberally where needed.
3) Consider hiring a lawn service company for a year to get rid of the problem and bring it to a more manageable level for you.
We just moved from a house with all saint augustine to a yard with 1/2 saint augustine and 1/2 burmuda and mostly weeds. We have a TON of crab and johnson's grass. It's horrible! I pulled one of them today and the root is so strong that it nearly sliced my finger in half! Please help!! I have spent about 3 or 4 hours a day pulling weeds!

Yeah the only good way is to pull. Any weed killers will leave bare spots in the grass. It took us several years to get rid of most it. Each year it would start coming up before the grass greened, that is the easiest and best time to pull it. When soul is damp it is easier to pull. They have tools that you can use to help pry it out.
Our yard was the same. It took about three years to get most of it out. We still get some but it is managable. Now mo more bermuda and very little grass. Would have like the bermuda, but nursing the St Augustine was much easier.
We have Johnson and crab grass also. The only thing I have found that helps is to pull them up. Sorry !
I feel your pain. I have pulled out so many weeds at my house. Finally gave up and now going to have Scotts lawn care try and fix it. They charge $35 a month and I am hoping that will help.
