Getting Ready to Move--storing Greeting Cards and Letters

Hi, All,

I'm getting ready to move, so I think that this is an especially good time to organize paperwork. I'm not sure how to organize all the greeting cards and letters I'd like to keep. (As I'm 44 and the Internet didn't get going until I was well into adulthood, I have many paper cards and letters.) Right now, they're all in a file box the size of approx. one file drawer. Any suggestions for a "non-creative, non-handy" type regarding how to organize them? Also, any suggestions on making a move (50 miles down the freeway, with two toddlers) easier. My husband may be out of town when it's time to move, so I may need to hire movers.

Thanks,
L.

I'd either recommend getting a nice box (the size of a shoe box) for each kind of card (birthday, holiday, sympathy, etc) or using plastic bags.

Some office supply stores (not your main stream ones) carry plastic zipper bags in a variety of sizes). If you organize them by type, date, etc. you can put them in a bag, label the bag, and then file in a bankers box, etc.

It also helps protect the cards/letters from time and normal elements.

Good luck with your move.

I have my cards/photos in the Creative Memories Power Sort Box. It is an organizing box that is extremely SIMPLE. The large cards get tucked in a flap on the lid. I have three of these, for photos and cards. I understand...it's for those of us who are "non-creative!" You can view it at:

"shop products"
"while supplies last"
"organizers"
"Power Sort Box" - the large one..it is the BEST. Like I said, I have 3!

Good luck in your move with your two toddlers!

When you have time, ha, ha.. like I do now that our daughter is in college... You could scan those cards and keep them ALL on 1 disc.. Till then a couple of file folder s or decorative boxes for each year, each season, event.. Your decision hoe you divide them up.. That way if you need to get to one, you an find it easier than digging through all of them.

50 miles? Get a children's music CD and sing songs, make sure they have snacks, or take the easy way out and get a video player for your car and pop in a DVD
