Hi Moms:
I am looking for help getting my 7 year old out of pull ups at night. He wakes up with a very full pull up and will wet the bed without the pull up on. He is starting to feel really uncomfortable as he has sleepovers etc. and all his peers are in underwear. HELP. Any and all suggestions will be much appreciated!! Thanks in advance

Have you spoken to your pediatrician about this? He may have some problems with his bladder. Another thing could be his sugar intact. A friend of mine's child could not eat sugar or he would have incontinence. He was not diabetic but he couldn't eat sugar.

Hi P.

I had a good friend who experienced the same situation with her son. She and her husband found that if they brought him to the bathroom before they went to bed, he would empty his bladder and remain dry the rest of the night. They said he really didn't even wake up when they carried him to the toilet. I know that doesn't help with the sleepover situation, but I think it was through this method that they were able to help him recognize his body's signals for the need to go during the night.
I wish you patience and success with whatever solutions you try. Best of luck,

A.

Okay I am not sure about the research results on these but you may want to look into bed wetting alarms. This may help teach his body to wake up when his bladder is full. I also agree to have the doc check him out to make sure all is okay.

this website has a fair amount of info about nighttime wetting in older kids. Good luck! http://www.goodnites.com/NA/

I don't know, but I thought you'd like to know that you aren't the only one! My son will be 7 in 2 weeks and still in pullups. His 3yo brother is usually dry at night, and will wake up to go, but my older son sleeps like the dead and doesn't wake himself when he has to pee.

I look forward to seeing what responses you get because we've also been thinking that summer will be a good time to work on this. So far the only ideas i have are to limit liquids at bedtime (which we already do) and wake him up at 11:00 or so to pee, which we haven't tried yet.
