Try laying her on your lap (belly down) & pat her back or gently bounce your knee as she is sitting on you lap.
God bless!
We have been very lucky in that our littlest one goes right back to sleep right after she burps in the middle of the night. The problem however, is that she goes to sleep a little too quickly. She them will not burp and continues waking herself up every couple hours at least after that. Any suggestions on how to get her to nurse and burp without waking her up so much she will be awake the rest of the night?
I have tried sitting her on my lap sitting up, over the shoulder, and even changing her diaper after she nurses to get her position changed. Each has very little success. Any ideas help!
Thanks for all the ideas! I now have a couple of new ways to get Abby to burp in the middle of the night. The last few days I have been trying a few and it is working wonders! She has been going down and sleeping her long stint and then after nursing and the BURP, she is now needing to be woken up after I get up!!

Babies seem to be different as to what makes them burp but I do agree with the person who said to walk with a bounce in your step. That works often when other things don't but the main thing is to be patient as with those little ones it sometimes takes a little while to get them to burp. You just need to keep her awake and if you have to unwrap her, or move her around a bit and then after she burps feed her a little bit more to get her back to sleep but not enough to have to burp.
I've found that the football hold works well. I usually would stand up, hold my baby in the football hold, and gently pat his back until he burped.
My son was not a good burper at all, in fact most of the time he would'nt burp. Sometimes you just have to let their little bodies just do what comes natural for them.
You know, she may not be waking up every couple of hours because she has not burped. It may just be her sleep pattern. Of course try to burp her, but it may not solve the sleep problem. My 3 month old will sleep 8 hours, but then she wakes every hour or two after that. It doesn't matter much to me because I bring her to bed and let her nurse whenever she wakes. Good luck!
