Gestational Sac Problems

I have already had two ultrasounds and I am just at 7 weeks. I am going to a fertility specialist so they are monitoring me more closely. They have told me at both of my ultrasounds now that the gestational sac is measuring small. The baby is measuring perfectly at 7 weeks but the gestational sac was 5 weeks and 1 day. My baby has a heartbeat of 144 which I was told was good and strong. I was wondering if anyone has ever run into this in their first trimester and what the outcome was, and is it possible that they are wrong? Thanks for any responses that you can give!

What can I do next?

Hi M.,
I feel for ya. We all expect to get pregnant easily and then have perfect pregnancies and when that doesnt happen it takes an emotional toll. Now I had this scenario happen on both of my pregnancies. I unfortunately lost my first little one at 8 weeks. I had been having bleeding since the 6 week mark so I knew something was wrong. The second pregnancy this happened and they suggested I start taking progesterone since those levels were really low. This pregnancy turned out my son who is now 8 months old.
I wish you the best of luck. Keep your thoughts positive and see if the doc suggests progesterone.
Remember its a near miracle you are pregnant. Someone upstairs is looking out for you.

I had this same exact problem at 7 weeks (with a Clomid baby) and everything turned out just fine-- in fact, my "problem pregnancy" is now screeching in my ear for me to get of the computer! :-) I won't tell you not to worry because nothing I say will keep you from worrying, but the heartbeat is a great sign and you have to remember that all the ultrasound work is as much art as science. They will probably have you back in in a week or so and remeasure and my guess is that everything will be fine by then. Make sure you are taking the best care of yourself as you can (including trying to keep your stress level as low as possible) and keep yourself mentally busy while you wait for the second ultrasound. Good luck, and let us know what happens!

I am very happy for you. I would not worry too much. May be go online and see if you can find some information out about the condition that you have. I am glad the baby is doing well so far. Make sure they monitor everything closely and I am sure you will be fine. I would not be alarmed from what you are saying unless, your baby is not growing correctly. None of those tests are perfect. I had a quad four screening done with my now 2.5 year old son and they told me he had a chance for down syndrome. I went to a specialist who did further tests and said he thought the baby looked fine. My son is very smart, healthy and is a great kid. Take good care of yourself and congratulations.

Dear M.,
I have no idea about the gestational sac part of your question, but I can tell you that we just celebrated my 12 year old miracle son's birthday. We also had a 4 % chance of getting pregnant because of very similar circumstances and then they said we had a 1% chance that I would make it past the first trimester with him because of all of the bloodwork results being too low. Never give up hope in the miracle growing inside of you.
Good luck to you & may God Bless you and your baby.
G.
