Good Morning Mommies, I am mother of 3 boys, 1-4 years and 2-2 years and am looking for gently used clothing. I have been checking out local thrift stores but selection for kids is very minimal and mostly for girls. Anyone have a good source in Contra Costa or Alameda Counties?

Thanks so much. :)

I like Children's Orchard. They buy 'gently used' clothing and resell it. They always have good quality, name brands, as well as 'play clothes' (may have a very small stain or button missing) at a lower cost.

Garage sales, Craigslist, eBay, and consignement shops have already been listed, and I agree with those mamas.

There's also thredup. Use this link as an invitation (http://www.thredup.com/228757 ) and when you sign up, you get a $5 credit! You can buy, sell, and swap BOXES of clothes with other moms around the country. (Invitation is open to ANYONE that wants to join! You can ALL get the $5 credit if you want!) :o)

The best and cheapest kids clothes can be found at garage sales in the rich neighborhoods. Then at church "garage" sales in rich neighorhoods.

Why "rich neighborhoods"? Because they can afford the very best quality and can afford to change brands on a whim with the "latest styles".

The best time to go is on the last Saturday of the month. You have the least amount of competition just before paydays.

Good luck to you and yours.

Have you ever tried ebay? There are usually a lot of good deals in lots there.

I go to Lauren's Closet in Alameda, and they have a ton of boy's clothes. Also Child's Play in Rockridge. And if you are adventurous, there is a semi-annual clothing exchange at Temple Beth Israel on Bay Farm Island (Alameda), where you pay $5 for whatever you can fit into a bag, and my biggest complaint there is that the clothes are almost always boys, not girls (I have an almost-3 yr old girl).

Hi there -- I am actually the event coordinator for Just Between Friends, a semi-annual children's and maternity consignment event held at the San Mateo Expo Center twice a year. Our next event is Sept 17-18. In the Spring, we had over 13,000 items including gently used clothing, shoes, toys, strollers, exersaucers, bouncy seats, etc. You should definitely check it out in the Fall! http://www.jbfsale.com/sanmateo.

Message me if you have any specific questions!

There's a new-ish store in Oakland called Kelly's Closet. It's on MacArthur Blvd. in the Dimond District. I love it! We've found great bargains there.
