I'm looking for games for my 13 year old daughter. We already have all the classics ... monopoly, checkers, uno, sorry, scrabble, trouble, multiple card games, cadoo, Apples to Apples, and more of the older games. Is there any good newer games that you've tried and liked? Or your teens have tried and liked? I'm looking for unplugged games for her.

Rummikub is played like the card game Rummy but with tiles. Scrabble Slam and Balderdash where you make up stories. Super fun!
Skip-Bo is great for the whole family. We play it all the time.
A couple of my favorite games are Celebrity (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Celebrity_(game)) and Categories. They are both games that can be played in a circle and young teens can enjoy.
What about Bananagrams? It's a word game using tiles (like Scrabble), but each player creates his own "crossword", and can move letters around. My daughter and I both love it. And it can be played either with a group or solo.
My daughter is 13 and asked for the game Bop-It and Guesstures for Christmas.
Who What Where
An interactive game. Each player draws three cards -- a who, a what, and a where -- and draws a picture incorporating them within a set time frame: Cher eating spaghetti in the Amazon Rain Forest, for example. Players then try to guess from the picture what the 3 cards were. Great drawing skills not necessary!
My 18 yr old daugher likes Taboo and Scatagories. Sometimes a group of friends arrange games of Risk or Diplomacy, but those require a lot of time and at least (I think) 3 players to really make them work.

Pictionary is also fun. Old versions of Trival Pursuit have a lot of "dated" questions, but maybe a newer version would be better.
These aren't new games but are fun if you don't have them. My teens have played Wizard, a card game which they love. Younger kids and adults play, also. They started at a family camp we attend each year. Sequence is another. Imaginiff. Taboo.
My 13 year old, (and my 16 year old too!) like Apples to Apples and Settlers of Catan.
Apples to Apples come out anytime there is a group. It is hysterical! All ages can play, everyone has an equal chance to win, and you learn a lot about how your friends think.
Settlers of Catan is a strategy game based on the idea of early settlers to an area. The game is very different every time and has been a go-to at our house. We even brought it out to play by candlelight a few weeks ago during a power outage!
I would suggest that you think outside your average toy store to find great games. We have a store called GameAlot in Santa Cruz that has all kinds of great games that you will never find at Toys R Us. There must be something similar in a larger town like Sacramento. If not, I think you and your 13 year old need a little trip to the beach to go game shopping. :)
What about Othello?
It is a 2 player strategy game. My youngest (who is 9) has been playing it for several years now. The rules are simple and it is easy to learn, but winning takes some strategic thought. :)
Or if you are looking more for a "group" type game, what about Yahtzee?
