I think the realtor idea is genius.

If it were me, I would buy it cheap on Craigslist then sell it when you are done with it.

for $100 or so, and likely cheaper than renting - you can get a super-fancy air mattress that has the blower mounted INSIDE the mattress, so it doesn't deflate.

Sorry, don't know nothing about furniture rental - except if you work out those interest rates they're about the same as a payday loan.

You have to be careful because the rental companies that are rent to own have long term contracts. Anything short term will be used furniture.

Anyway your best bet is to contact a Realtor. They have companies they go through for short term renting to stage homes for sale.

Check Craig's list someone may be selling for a low cost or giving away furniture. I love the air mattress idea but make certain you get patches for them when needed.

I am not sure about furniture rental, but I am guessing that an air mattress on a $40 bed frame with wood underneath so it's not on the floor will not be an acceptable option?

Renting it would probably cost the same amount as buying an inexpensive bed. At least if you buy the bed you can sell it when you're done with it and recoup some of the cost. Furniture rental places are a major ripoff.

We have an inflatable Bed-In -A-Bag. Maybe check out a stow away option like that.

I would think a bed in a bag would be more economical for you and would be portable and reusable. I knew a family who used Rent a Center and when you added up the amount they actually paid at the end it was much more than saving ahead and going to the store. Depending on your area, you might also find a frame and mattress through Freecycle. A lot of local places are having mattress sales, too. Get a cheap frame at a thrift store and a new mattress. You can always sell later, especially if you keep a cover on it to ward off mites or bedbugs or pet dander.

Renting furniture is a gimmick. There are so many loopholes in those contracts it is crazy... It is one of those gimmicks that people fall for then they end up spending WAY more thaan buying something outright. I had a friend do this when she moved to a new town and wasn't ready to settle in. Boy did she learn the hard way. It is not a temorary fix.

Mattresses cannot be rented. Your best bet is an air mattress or someone sleeping on the couch.

I don't think you can rent a bed. You can't even buy a used one from any stores because of bedbugs. I would look into an air mattress, they have many different options some even have legs so that they are not on the floor. Or a medal frame with some plywood and an air mattress on top of that. Craigslist is loaded with cheap beds...all you need is a mattress cover and you are good to go....bedding with dress it up and you will save so much money!!! Check it out!

I do not know who it is for, but if it is for a person who doesn't mind, get a roll out mattress or a futon mattress. I'd skip rental and eeeuuu mattresses that are used by unknown people have been known to have bedbugs... we ourselves drag around a full sized mattress pad when we are staying places then roll it up at home. Works pretty good. But if you have an elderly person you might want to check into something else.

You could try Rent a Center or Aaron's but I don't know if you can rent a bed. And they prefer long term rental. If you have time, there are places that sell air beds on or with frames so they are not on the floor. This would probably be a better option especially if your guest is older. They sell for about $100-$250 or so, same as what you would pay for rental. Plus easy to store away for later.

Please do NOT rent anything from those places! You will get screwed royally and then screwed again. My ex-inlaws did this. They didn't have the "money" to buy a $600 TV so they rented one for like 3 years and it ended up costing them something sick like $3500. It was ridiculous. So find something on craigslist or a garage sale, it will be a smarter move. Good luck!
