Do you have a "Rooms to Go" there? They are not the highest quality but they do have a huge selection and showroom. Prices are reasonable too.
And what about Ikea?
Brandsmart for appliances?
I am in a position where I need to furnish an entire home.
What is the best place to shop for things like refrigerator, sofas, chairs and kitchen tables. I realize each place has different stores, but is there a place you like? I can see if we have one. I have no idea what a good price is for something like a couch.
I need to buy furniture for living room, dinning room and bedrooms.

Just don't go too fast! I'd rather live in a sparse home in progress than an insta-house full of cheap looking furniture.
Craigslist and estate sales are awesome for unique furniture and art at bargain prices!
This is going to sound nuts....but do you REALLY need to do the entire house all at once?
As someone who moved (in November) from a 1200sf home to a 3400sf home, I can say that it's VERY tempting to feel like you NEED to furnish those empty rooms RIGHT NOW. But that's also a LOT of money to spend all at once.
I suggest doing one room at a time over, say, a year or so. Make a list with the most important room at the top and so on.
Best!

For furniture I say value city. Couches dining roomtatables beds for appliances best buy, or Lowes get good quality that will last a long long time
I've been looking!
I actually found the best selection and prices at Sears for our beds and for our appliances.
I went from Lowes to Sears and Sears had a special sale, maybe presidents birthdays or something like that. I got a very very nice stove for $200 less than almost the same thing at Lowes on sale too.
I got a clearance bed for under $100. It is actually the most comfortable bed in the house.
We got our washer and dryer at Lowes but the dryer was a gift from an earlier purchase.
I think that if you want quality you should go to a name brand store.
Washer/dryer
$1500 for a nice front loader set $1000 for a top loader washer
Fridge
$800-$1200 for a large nice sized one
Sofa/couch
$500-$800
Set of 2, sofa/love seat or chair/ottoman
$800-$1200
Dining room tables and 6 chairs
Depends on the materials you like, what your look is, contemporary (bar stool high tables) is going to be higher, solid wood will be higher, etc....compare prices but when you see what you like you won't be able to get that out of your head....lol.
Beds
For a Queen size tempurpedic you could spend anywhere from $1200-$7000, it depends on if you want the heaters, divided where one can lay flat and one can lay head and feel raised, or if you want massage options....it gets stupid crazy expensive.
So I suggest you go online and see what styles are attractive to you. That way you can have an idea of what you want.
For instance, I am 5' tall and round. So there is NO WAY I want a table to eat at every day that uses bar stools for the chairs. They are cool and contemporary but they would not be comfy for me to sit in, nor would any guests I am going to have.
SO I have an oval wood dining room table with 6 chairs that has a nice table cloth and centerpiece on it. I use it when we have company which is pretty often, at least once per month.
I use the breakfast bar but still need to buy counter stools (24"-26" instead of a bar stool 30"-32" high). I have a hiney back there so those small cushion seats will not be comfy for me. I want a counter stool that has a wider leather cushioned seat with a nice back that is super comfy so I can sit down and eat there, help kids with their homework, and play on my computer.
The counter stools that "I" like are a couple hundred each so I don't plan on getting them any time soon. I do sort of like the ones at Hobby Lobby but they're not super padded and comfy to like the more expensive ones so I am waiting and saving money to get just what I want.
This is a lifetime investment in my mind. I know stuff wears out but I don't expect it to be gone in 6 months either so I am getting just what "I" like and what "I" want to look at and use for a long time.
I cannot say enough good things about "no place like home' They are in Fort Worth on Foch street.
There is not inventory, but they have books and books and a few samples. They are a straight from the manufacturer store. They carry the leather manufacturer who does Restoration Hardware's couches, etc!!
It will take time and you have to order and wait for the items, but quality pieces at the best price - this is where you want to go:)
For a store that has everything under one roof, I would suggest Conn's. My daughter and son-in-law have gotten appliances, furniture, and a bed there and it has all been good quality merchandise. They also have purchased electronics there at good prices.
I am not sure about appliances but sofas and tables and stuff like that I usually will go out to traiders village to see if I can find something I like and they have a little of everything. I got my boys bunk beds there. And that's not too far from you. It's off of 360 in Grand Prairie.
GG:
Check your local Freecycle.org - you would be surprised at what you will find people are giving away...
Our local Goodwill has full bedroom sets that are in great condition for $100 versus Ashely Furniture's $750 or more....
If you want EVERYTHING brand new? Big Lots - has furniture....
Best Buy, Sears (they have furniture as well as appliances)...
Have you tried a "rent-a-center"?
Macys?
Not sure how much money you have to spend. for me? I would start by looking at what will save me the most money - then go out from there. There are some things that I don't care if they are "NEW" - couches and bedroom sets are one of those...
Have fun!!!
How fun and how stressful! To get an idea about prices I'd do some looking on the Internet. I suggest you can trust all the major chains such as Lowes and Best Buy. Look for prices and sales on their web sites. There are also discount stores on the Internet and in your area. I can't think of names right now for the Internet ones but they advertise on TV and on Google. Find local ones in the newspaper.
I've found that I need to actually shop by looking at more than one store to find what I'd want and like. Google each appliance/furniture piece to find things to look for when buying them. One thought that comes to mind is for upholstered furniture. Look that there is give in the frame under the cushions. I have a couch that is 30 or more years old and it's in good condition. My daughter bought one without springs in the base and velvety like fabric and it's ready to be replaced in just a few years. You want to know about the upholstery fabric too. Some will wear out in a year or so.
So, I suggest that you not try to buy everything at once. But a few basic pieces, say the appliances and a table and chairs. Dressers and chest of drawers quality is more straightforward than upholstered furniture.
I would not do the whole house at once. Figure out the priorities and go from there.
It took us years to furnish our home because we were adamant about paying CASH upfront and purchasing QUALITY so we would not need to re-furnish because we bought cheap stuff. Just remember that you get what you pay for.
As for appliances, we've had excellent experience with Best Buy.
We've purchased several pieces from Weir's in Dallas on Knox street. They have nice quality (or used to) and it is not all the cookie cutter styles, etc. We got a nice cherry bedroom set for about $1500, single leather couch for $1000, some other pieces of furniture that were also reasonably priced.
We got a leather sofa, 2 ottomans, chair and loveseat from Dillards in Dallas. It is 13 yrs old and still looks great. We paid about $3000 for everything.
We got our formal sofa and loveseat custom made from Leather Sofa Company in Dallas, $5000
We have custom made solid wood breakfast and dining sets from Amish Furniture n Frisco. Very expensive but very well worth the money.
The pieces we purchase were purchased for the intent of forever pieces of furniture.
You might try Craigslist to see if there are quality estate or divorce sales going on new you.
Dont' fall for the gimmicks of no interest, blah blah. Nothing is Free
Happy shopping
Not sure if there is one near you, but if you need to do everything, all at once, and on the cheap, I suggest IKEA. Their showroom/ ware house and flatpack boxes means you can get it all, and all in one day. Some assembly required, but you can't beat the price.
Good luck to you and yours,
F. B.
It really depends on your budget and if you want a broad selection of items to choose from or just a few. If you are talking high end, you could call Ethan Allen and have a consultant come out to see you. I have gotten several furniture sets from Costco (on the website) - good price, great quality, limited assortment. Appliances - I would go to a Lowe's or Home Depot or a place like Texas Appliance or even a Sears. All offer multiple brands and different price ranges and their employees are usually knowledgable about how they compare to each other!
"Best" as in all under one roof or least expensive or quality? We moved from a small two-bedroom apartment to more than 3,300 square feet, and I refused to fill it up just for the sake of doing so. You didn't ask about that, but I agree with the others who advise you to look around and see what you like and take your time to get what you will want and enjoy for a long time. I include that in my "best" options. Also, furniture taste is so personal. If you are doing it for someone else, take lifestyle and taste into account. Decide a theme or tone or whatever for each room and shop stores that cater to those, because each store will not have the best in everything. We got our kitchen table and chairs at some furniture store that were were passing on the freeway. We knew what we wanted and saw it one day. My dining set I bought from my friend, after admiring it in her house for a few years. We just upgraded our bedroom when we saw a good deal on something that we liked. Washer and dryer came from Conn's. Microwave oven came from Sears. I got outside furniture from Target. It really does depend on what you want and how much you want to spend.
