I guess I missed them the first time around so I don't understand them this time around. What are they and what do they do? Why are they considered to be a hot item this Christmas?

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Not sure if anyone would know what a "Chatimal" is but it was a cute little hamster that would repeat back what you would say in its hamster voice. Is that the same kind of thing?

Wee12adopt - OMG too funny!!

NO. Just...no. Back away slowly, turn around and keep walking. Don't look back.

I have three children...and, therefore, three Furbies. They're gathering dust somewhere in the attic. Creepy, creepy things. The Furbies, that is, not my children.

New and Improved!
More annoying than ever!
I have a friend who uses the old furby's for target practice.
The best toys don't use batteries and don't make noise.
It's possible that 'lot's of tiny pieces/parts' can also be a problem (beading kits - Ugh!) but Legos are the exception to that rule.

I had one of the original Furby's and it never worked like it was supposed to. It was just annoying. It chattered constantly but never learned what I was trying to teach it. Then it would not shut up. I got rid of it because it drove me crazy. My kids wanted one this time around and by reading reviews I did not see much difference in this new set than in the original. (Except for the fact that some people say they have an "evil one" or "a haunted one". A friend of mine says her kids are afraid to play with theirs because of the weird things it says.) I say save your money, buy something else.

My brother got my daughter 1 when they came out the first time. She played with it for a couple weeks and then it went in a drawer. Same brother bought my oldest granddaughter 1 this time around. On Christmas day we were skyping with my brother in Australia and his girlfriend's daughter had a Furby. So her Furby and granddaughter's Furby were chatting on skype.

Total waste of money for something that will be used on and off for a short time.

Well, Furby is electronic, which is an automatic plus for many people. Furby was really popular in the late 1990s. He resembles a small, strange-looking animal, and can talk. Here's a link:

Apparently the new ones have more language skills.

Furbies reminded me of an anime toy gone funky. They are little stuffed animals that "talk" and "giggle" like Tickle Me Elmo did...supposedly unlike Tickle me Elmo - if your child interacts with Furby - it gets "smarter" and develops a personality....

My boys are 11 & 13 - so this is NOT something we will be getting them....Thank God they never wanted them in the first place...

My daughter was given a Furby last Christmas and she loved it for maybe the first week or two - it has since been sitting in my daughter closet =/

Oh geez, yeah, the Furby is supposed to be some hot toy.
And Christmas time is when they market it more.
But per my kids, who are now 7 and 11, but were young when it came out... they have no interest in it.
And they don't think its cute.
So lucky for me, I never had to buy one.
I wouldn't buy one even if they did like it.
Unless some relative wanted to get it for them.
But again, my kids had no interest in it, even when they were younger.

It is just a big dust ball.
And it isn't even cute.
Money waster.
