See if you can work out a special give-away with a local business and sell raffle tickets for $1 or $5. We did something like that and made a lot of money. You can ask for a complete baseball equipment set for a kid, maybe. Like baseball bat, glove, batting gloves, helmut, and shoes. The store would probably give you a discount on the complete set and the money you raise will more than pay for it. You can offer three prizes (two lesser items) for better chances to win. I'd suggest a gift card/certificate to the same place or an ice cream place, or tickets to a Cougars game. Kids can sell the tickets all over the place - esp near the store and they will have people lined up to get a chance.

Another thought is imprinted gifts like baseballs - my husband can imprint photos onto balls, plaques, and numerous other items. Send me a message if you want more info on that. Oh, and my husband can print raffle tickets, too. He helped with the similar fund-raiser I mentioned above.

kroger and safeway gift cards.
the team has to buy them and register them. then every reload gets counted towards the team. at total reloads (for all cards combined) of $5k (for Kroger anyway), they cut the team a check for 5%. yes, this is free money - you get a 5% kickback for all money spent at kroger -groceries, gas, prescriptions - money you spend anyway. the reload can be a hassle sometimes (you can use right away at the same register but have to wait 20 minutes or so to use at another one - so you can't load inside and then go buy gas right away)...but that is the only downside.
but you can also sell it as a budgeting option - load only once a month to control spending.
get grandparents, etc. on board with them too.

We held a community wide garage sale in my friend's driveway to raise money for a local charity and made a little over $3000.

Bake sale - hold it indoors.

Game night - poker, bunco, charades. Have any entry fee and get donations for prizes. Hold it at a community center.

My favorite is a Pampered Chef show - do one at home with all your mom friends - and set up the show online so you can invite anyone who cannot attend and anyone of your friends/family across the country - we can ship anywhere in the US and APO boxes. We donate 10-15% of the sales plus $10 per booking from your show.
How much are you trying to raise? Contact me through mamapedia or

To raise money for the March of Dimes in Maine, my sister found a church that let her use their space for free. Friends and family hosted a "spaghetti dinner"...$5/person for salad, garlic bread, and spaghetti donated by "team" members. They made some good cash and everyone had a blast getting together!

**P.S. They also did a bake sale style dessert table**

Write a check campaign

Don't bother with selling things people do not want, cookie dough, gift wrap, etc... that is so overpriced and not wanted. I'd much rather just give a kid some money.

Some grocery stores and restaurants have promo cards you can sell for about $5 each.

Depending on how big you want.... silent auction, golf tournament, etc.

We made a lot of money doing family portraits. Olan Mills has some information online. It's pretty quick and easy. Just make sure the person in charge of it is very organized.
