Hello everyone, i've already posted this request but I think I lost it. So, if this is on twice I apologize. My husband and I recently bought a piece of property near mt. pleasant. We use it for camping which we love. However, we'd like to do some exploring. Does anyone know of any fun stuff to do with kids in central MI. Anything from museums to amusement parks to quaint shopping towns, petting zoos... Anything would be great. We love relaxing but the kids and I kindof have adventurous spirits. We would also drive a little ways. Thanks for any and all help!
Raelle

Check out Midland's web site. I grew up there. There is a spash park down by the tridge. A playground at the tridge, and often free concerts there too. Chippewa (sp) Nature center has programs and great trails (bike and walking). Bay City has a A--- (I can't think of the name-- place you go to look at stars).
Saginaw has a great small/kid friendly zoo.

Dow Gardens in Midland recently added a children's garden, there is a little play structure and water for the kids to water plants (and a bathroom).

Midland also has a great huge playground call the "Fun Zone"

Cindy Lou's Petting Zoo in Roscommon is great. They have exotic animals (and normal ones like goats, horses, etc.) too. It's a well kept place and they are very nice.

You can google the towns and get some info. If you belong to AAA, they have a ton of info. Also google something about MI tourism.

midland has a great museum. midland also has dow gardens. a fabulous place for a walk.

there is a train that runs from mt pleasant to cadillac. They run it weekends in the fall for a color tour and certain other weekends your boys might be a bit too young for that. I remember it being a whole day thing..

Rails to Trails have trails that go through that area. If you're more to the west, Big Rapids has a great tubing/kayak area on the Muskegon River, and for a longer day, Michigan Adventure Amusement Park north of Muskegon is great. Loafer's Glory is an area in Blanchard that is very quaint shopping. If you take M-20 West out of Mt. Pleasant about 15 miles, you then head north for about 5 miles. There are signs. Enjoy your new area!
