Fun Christmas Presents for Hard-to-shop for Husband?

I want to get my husband some fun Christmas presents.

I've tried the "practical" - sweaters, golf items, DVDs and XBOX games
I've tried the funny - gag gifts, funny movies
And the personal - things from the kids, a homemade photobook

So what do I get him?

When he wants or needs something he just gets it. Almost any shirt I buy him, he returns (he's very picky).

i'd love your suggestions and ideas. He's a golf fiend. But he already owns everything he wants/needs. He loves DVDs and XBOX games.

The only "fun" thing I have for him other than requested items, is bacon chocolate bars. It was just too funny sounding to pass up. I KNOW he'll love that gift.

I'm just stumped.

What can I do next?

I would say a series of lessons with his PGA Professional. If he is a golf fiend, he might appreciate it. My husband is a PGA Professional himself and he says that there is always something to improve in himself as well as in the lessons that he gives. Good luck!! My husband is also impossible to buy for and golf stuff is OUT in my household as he can get it all at discount for himself and he has all the new stuff that he looks at everyday as well as the merchants coming directly to him.

Listening to books while driving is great. www.audible.com has monthly subscriptions that are wonderful and has just about every book out there. Also how about a golf magazine subscription? I second the idea of time with a golf pro. He would love it. BTW where did you get the bacon chocolate bar (if you don't mind sharing)? Merry Christmas!

So, I waited to see what everyone else posted...

I want to throw this in though I feel like some might think it is economical/ "cheap"...and that isn't what you are asking for...

A homemade (or google it and you might find a customizable, more professional looking) coupon book.

Make it your own with off the wall (trip to vegas), sexy (whatever is somewhat off limits!), fun (picnic, park, something with the kids), or really mundane (cut the grass, wash the car) coupons.

I usually do this for mine for valentine's and of course, it is all about the bedroom, but it doesn't have to be! Have fun!

Give him a gift certificate (made by you) for 30 min. joke time ( or story telling time or massage his back or anything else - use your imagination...) any time he wants. Put expiration DATE on it! When he use your gift certificate be prepare to do it. Good luck and fun.

I want to say that I swear I don't work for this company but I bought a few things for my husband and i LOVE the line and the whole concept. It's called Mancave. Instead of candle parties he comes to your house and holds MEAT-ings. I didn't have a party I just bought off the website. Anyway, It's a great line of guy stuff. He has AWESOME BBQ tools and we are huge BBQ people in my house. Great items like circular skewers so they fit perfectly on a plate or this baster that is silicone but is attached to a squeeze bottle. My husband has super hairy arms so I got him this pepper shaker that has a super long handle so no arm hair burned off. Basic things that are helpful to a great BBQ. He has gag gifts like a fart candle or a winter glove that has a sleeve on the outside that holds a beer. They also have a ton of food you can buy like 30-something different flavors of brats, blue cheese stuffed burgers. This stuff is good for superbowl. Here is a website if interested. www.bubsbrats.com
good luck!

does he have an Ipod already? My husband LOVES using his for listening to podcasts and music

does he like reading? a certain genre? If he is into sci fi you could buy him anything by Scott Sigler or J C Hutchins, both are GREAT. Both also have free podio versions of their novels ready by the authors - http://www.podiobooks.com - perhaps make some audio books for him to listen to on his drive to work?

Go to the pro shop at his favorite driving range and ask them what's new. There's always something new in golf - maybe he won't have had time to get it for himself yet. Or DVD's of golf tours, coffee table books of memorable golf moments, tickets to a professional tour. There is an on line catalog company - Herrington - that has a lot of golf stuff and guy stuff you could look at.

I got mine a custom bobble head doll last year. It looks exactly like him! Everyone at work loves it and several people have asked for the site to get one of their own. If you're interested, let me know and I'll send you a link....

Are there places he likes to go? Give him a "coupon" to take him there in 2011. Maybe that'll be a nice surprise for him.

just had to say, whatever you find for him, make him go on a fun scavenger hunt to find it in the house......the kids will love it too. We did that for my husband one year and lead him to the bathroom he never looks behind the curtain for the bathtub and stuck his air compressor there.......it was a riot watching him go in and out of the house finding notes to get the gift. too funny.

I'm not sure where you live, but if he's a golfer, he will probably really enjoy a gift certificate from TopGolf in Wood Dale. He can go with buddies or with the family - it's great fun for every level of golfer (or non golfers). It's kind of like bowling, but with golf clubs, and they serve drinks and food right to your bay. The bays are actually heated, so it's open year-round. My husband used to be a good golfer, and he loves it; my daughers and I are not golfer, and we love it too. Here's a link to their llisting on kidwinks; you can learn more, read reviews, and click thru to their website: http://www.kidwinks.com/FamilyFun/4/TopGolf/9247/

Good luck!

The one fun thing I got was one of those stove top popcorn makers with the handle you turn. He loves popcorn! Maybe you could get tickets to something for him to attend? Does he drink beer? Go for a brewery tour, go to a wine tasting, take a cooking class together. Hey, if all else fails--wrap yourself in a big bow when the kids are in bed, no better present than that ;-)

By the way--where did you get those chocolate bacon bars? That would so be great for my hubby . . . you would have had him at the word "bacon" LOL.

I have not read your other answers, but what about something for you guys to do together. Tickets to Disney on Ice for the family (it is coming up), or tickets for you and him on the Spirit or Odyssey Cruise leaving from Navy Pier. Something fun that you will do together to create memories and spend time together :) Happy Holidays :)

How about some sessions with a golf pro to work on his swing or gift cards for a driving range (not sure if there are any open in the winter up in Barrington, but I know that one in the Oak Brook area opens on warmer winter days.) Or maybe tickets to one of next summer's PGA golf tourneys (I am not a big golf follower, so I don't remember the name of the big one that comes to the Chicago area.)
