Frozen Brisket ?

I forgot to get my brisket out of the freezer this morning. I got it out about an hour ago and it's sitting in the sink right now. I was wanting to put it in the oven tomorrow morning to cook on low all day. Does anyone have any idea if it will defrost by morning ? Or if I can put it in the oven a little frozen and it will get done by tomorrow evening ? I was planning on putting it on 300 degrees all day by 10am so it would be done by 6 or 7.

Thanks for any ideas mom !

So What Happened?

Thanks for all the great responses ! I ended up leaving it in my sink overnight. It was still pretty chilly in the morning but was defrosted. So I just put it in my oven on 300 at 10 and it was almost falling apart tender by 6. It ended up being one of my better briskets !

If you leave it out, it should be defrosted by 10am.

I just read an interesting article about cooking meat frozen. Basically, we can cook just about any meat from the frozen state, especially if you are cooking slowly.

So, no worries...Just follow your usual cooking method for this one. They article recommended adding an additional 30 minutes. But for you brisket, you probably don't need to.

Hope it delish!

i would leave it in the sink in room temp water to defrost all night. i don't know how big it is, but i took mine out about 10 at night and by 5 the next morning it was fully defrosted. good luck

Slow roasting is fine when the meat is frozen. Just rinse it, season it, and do whatever you normally do.

I NEVER defrost meat when I am going to bake it all day. Just pop it in the oven at 350degrees and bake. I do this for my Turkey too. The ice crystals from being frozen help to "self baste" the meat while it is cooking.

If you are going to defrost meat, you need to do it in the fridge or microwave to inhibit the growth of bacteria.

I cook a frozen 4 lb roast in the crockpot for 4 or 5 hours, and am able to make shredded BBQ beef with it. I have a newer crockpot that I can set the temp on. If you have an older on that only has warm, low, and high settings it might take 5 or 6 hours on low.
