Front Loading Washing Machine Cleaners

I do rinse a rinse cycle with vinegar. Also, like Jo, I keep the trap wiped down and leave the door open ajar when not in use.

I have had mine for four years. Just cleaning the trap and keeping the door open seems to keep it clean and smelling fine.

I do the same as Jo. Somtimes, despite my best efforts, it still gets funky, so I spray BioKleen's Bac Out Bathroom Cleaner in all the grooves of the rubber seal and then it's all fresh again. You can buy the cleaner online at www.vitacost.com or at many health food stores. I stock up whenever I make the 3 hour trek to Whole Foods. It cleans FAR beyond the bathroom.

I have followed the instruction manual and run the "cleaning" cycle maybe twice. It involves bleach, no "special" stuff to buy. I've had it for probably 6 years now. No smells.

I have the duet machine, and leave the door open all the time. I try to use the clean machine cycle once a month, and have used bleach & the Tide machine cleaner. I think the Tide smells better, but they both do the job (and bleach is less $$$). I've never had a funk smell, and I only wipe the inside of the rubber seal when doing the clean machine cycle.... I have noticed if I forget one month, the next time there is a lot of suds left in it after the clean cycle... meaning I have some build-up of soap in there. So I do a whites with bleach after that or just run clean cycle again. (I think leaving the door open is the key though!). Good luck!

I run bleach through mine but I wish I could clean it with a sledghammer! I hate that stupid thing.

Mine has a "tub clean" option where you just use Bleach and it does the rest.

After 'each' load of clothes you wash, you should dry the door and around the rubber piece that is in front. When you are done with your laundry, leave your washer door 'open' and let it air dry. This will help prevent the icky smell. If you don't have a "tub clean" option on your washer, then do an empty cycle with Bleach and Hot Water. That should take care of the odor.

I keep a towel on top of my washer so that each time I get done with a load, I dry the door and around the rubber part. This will help keep it sealing good during each wash cycle.

I use bleach. the manufacturer told me using vinegar for the "clean tub" cycle would void the warranty since they specifically recommend bleach. on my old top loader, I'd run a quart of vinegar with an empty load and water level on high.

leave the door open. also, every couple of months I turn the seal darn near inside out and get the underside not just the topside.
