Frizz - Berwyn,IL

My hair is mixed with mostly straighter hairs, some wavy, with some stray frizzy curly hairs laying on top of the rest. Most of it is super thick, heavy hair, but the frizzy ones, are mostly thinner. It's driving me crazy! I don't want it super straight, just want to tame the curls which get really frizzy regarless of weather.

Conditioners haven't helped. Paul Mitchell Super Skinny Serum (an after product) helps, but not completely - I put it on after my hair dries. I would prefer not to use things like gel, hairspray, or mousse, but if that's all that works for you, lay on the recommends, please. I don't like real flowery or alcohol-y smells due to asthma. Also don't want my hair to be sticky or crusty, but would like it to stay in place better.

Have you tried Moroccan oil? I use one for "light" hair - I assume light frizz, but i do have seasonally frizzy hair and it works like a dream and not smelly, but smells good if that makes sense.:)

I know this is old school, maybe extra work, but before going to bed at night, what about setting your hair on large (small ones will make the curl too tight) sponge rollers? Use a setting lotion (usually no alchohol) or mousse (there are alcohol/perfume free versions) before curling it to set and lock the curl. Curling it with an iron before rolling it up will straighten it if it's too frizzy but the curlers will give it bounce by morning. It should hold during the day pretty well and maintain alot of body at the same time until it gets wet again.

Has anyone ever suggested you try WEN? My hair has a natural wave that gets unbearably frizzy in humidity. WEN is not. Shampoo, but a cleansing conditioner that cleanses without lathering. Lather strips your hair of it's natural oils and this often results in frizz. I've been using nothing but WEN since last June and it has made a world of difference in my hair. It is softer, shinier, less frizzy - and my color lasts forever. It had been almost 3 months since I had gotten to the salon (busy life with kids makes it hard to find "me" time!) and my stylist asked if I had colored my hair in-between because of how well the color held.

WEN can be a bit pricey, but you don't need both shampoo and conditioner - one product does it all. And it lasts a long time. If you buy it, get it from QVC. They offer the best deals plus you can read tons of reviews. I can't say enough about the stuff, I just love it. I highly recommend and think it will help solve your problem!

Hair "texture" to a certain extent, cannot be changed.
It is hair texture.

Maybe try Garnier Fructis hair products. Try a leave on, hair conditioner.
Maybe your hair is dry or has split ends... THIS will make hair, more frizzy.
Trim ends regularly, to maintain your hair and the split ends.

Frizzy hair, if also often, dry. So try the leave on hair conditioners or creams. My daughter uses these and it is not sticky. Just silky.

I am a hairstylist. One product I highly recommend is Sebastion's Potion No 9. It is like a leave in conditioner that works great with your texture of hair to tame, condition and control frizz. It has a very clean smell, not overly flowery or anything like that. It will not leave your hair sticky or crusty.

DO NOT use a TOWEL on your hair - ever! Use a paper towel if you must to squeeze out the water but do not RUB your hair you are begging for frizz by roughing up the hair. Plus, mousse - for curly hair is about all you can use in this case - I like Tresseme Perfect Curls or something like that mousse. Give product about 10ish min in your hair to activate/work properly esp with curly/textured hair. Use your fingers with a plamade or texture balm to help shape and form the curls that are more stubborn - you can even wrap them around a folded up paper towel to help them form a nice spiral.

Sounds like you have my hair ... Since you're already familiar with the Super Skinny line (LOVE IT!!!!), I recommend using the whole line (http://www.paulmitchell.com/Products/PaulMitchell/Smoothi.... Seriously makes a difference.

Also love the Redken Smooth Down line (http://www.redken.com/products/haircare/smooth-down), especially the butter treatment.

Sometimes, when I'm really desperate, I resort to the Redken Real Control Super Moisturizing Mask (http://www.redken.com/products/haircare/realcontrol).

Watch for sales at Ulta and stock up.

I have curly hair, and I have been using Bio Silk. I put a little on my hair while it's wet and then use a defuser to dry it. My hair has not been frizzy since I have started using it. Even on very humid day's. It can be a little pricey depending on where you get it. I know that Target sells it but I get it at my hairdresser for a little less money. I pay about $25 for a 5.64 ounce bottle but It lasts for a long time because you use so little. You can also use it on your skin which in nice too!

Ok, I haven't tried this personally, BUT I have heard GREAT things about it. I have been told that it helps with frizz, and one day I will get around to doing it. It is actually a simple at home concoction of things you probably already have. You need 1 liter of water, and mix in it 1 tablespoon of honey. You can shake it or stir it (Shaking sounds like it would work better), then rinse it through your hair after washing. It's an inexpensive (non-stinky, because I can't stand perfumes either) thing to try.

I have similar issues. Just got Marc Anthony Curl evny cream and have been very happy with results. It makes curl soft without crunchy texture. And if you go straight try the" perfect 10 spray". both at ulta.
