Friend's Cat Is Jealous of Her New Baby

I'm asking for a friend, her cat has been peeing in the nursery ever since they set it up. She's always been skittish around people but now she's throwing up after they have company (of course people visiting the baby). Anyone have any experience with this or tips? She added that they can't keep the nursery door shut because the room gets cold and damp if they do. I'll pass any advice on to her.

P.S. She is an indoor cat

What can I do next?

We had to give our cat away when it started doing that... we did everything ttok to vet, more time with cat, and lots more... it just didn't like the kids anymore, making it an outside cat at the time just wasn't safe where we lived, so it moved to familys and is a barn cat now,

This happenend to a friend of mine. Her cat would poop on the floor in front of the litterbox when she was mad about the baby. They tried everything from making sure it was cleaned every time she used it to playing with the cat to giving her treats and nothing worked. The cat moved in with a friend of hers, and is doing well now. I wish I had a better answer for you. They really do need to make sure the cat can't get in the baby's room right now. Maybe a small heater in there would be enough to keep it warm for the baby?
My dog has been really weird since I found out I was pregnant, it's funny how our pets are kind of in tune with our lives and what's going on. I wish her the best.

This may sound a little strange, but perhaps making a "crib" for the cat in the nursery? When I was pregnant, and brought the crib home the cat took it over. I didn't see any harm since I didn't need it just then, but after the baby came, he (the cat) had his own "crib" that worked out very well. I have pics of me nursing in the middle of the night with the baby in one hand and the cat in the other. Some cats just need to feel loved. Making a special place for her that even looks like a crib if possible (i.e. baby doll crib or something of the sort...maybe from a garage sale)may make her feel like "the baby" also.

I'd put the cat outside when company comes over.

A white vinegar and water solution works to neutralize the odor of cat urine. And your friend should make certain the cat cannot get into the nursery.

What we had to do with our cat when we went through the jealousy stage was to devote time each day to petting and paying attention to the cat. The one on one time helped make him feel more secure.
