You should call the airline.
We want to take fresh basil from our garden in a bag as a carry on. would this be a problem.
Decided to just pack it in our checked bag and not worry about security checkin
You should call the airline.
No, its not a problem unless you are travelling to the UK.
shouldn't be... Just put it in a baggie in your purse. It is considered food not liquid and you can bring food!!!
You can pack food on domestic flights, just not liquids. How much are you bringing? If it's for your personal consumption during the flight, then fine. And then, where are you landing? If you're going overseas they'll confiscate any fresh items not eaten en route, except perhaps Mexico, where they are pretty lax.
Definitely check with your airline.
Happy travels :)
food is not an issue, it's liquids, you can always call the airlines because all seem to have different rules to be sure. the worse that will happen is they will take it from your and throw it away, which is a pretty horrible thing to watch....
I know this i late but just in case, I just got back from an international flight and fresh produce is not allowed, even in your checked luggage. Has to do with pests, etc. One time I had to throw away a nice, clean apple that wasn't eaten before boarding. D.
