Freezing in Glass?

Hi!

I occasionally make my own baby food and like to freeze it. I've used ice cube trays and containers made for storing baby food in the past but haven't been impressed, so now I've been saving all the containers that the store bought stuff comes in. I have both the jars and the plastic rectangular containers. My question is, can I freeze in glass?? I'm assuming if I do use the glass I should just not fill the jar all the way to allow for expansion (as with filling any container), but do I need to worry about the glass freezing??

Thanks!

What can I do next?

1. Water expands as it freezes.
2. Plastic will 'give', glass will not.

If you freeze anything liquid/containing any amount of liquid the glass will break and you'll have a mess to clean up. Even if it's not filled to the top, it's not a good idea. Stick with plastic when freezing and if you want to use the jars, use a canning method.

NEVER under any circumstances freeze glass. It could break from the freezing. It could break during the thawing out process. Do not put glass in the freezer!

glass doesnt leach chemicals when frozen so that is the best choice! i wouldnt put a VERY hot glass in a freezer, let it cool a few minutes on the counter first

You need to check with the mfg. I have Pampered Chef batter bowls - and those can be frozen - but they are 1 and 2 qt. bowls.
