Everything will be fine. Just shut the door.
I just noticed my full size freezer making a lot of noise. It's a double door freezer, with the lower door acting like a chest freezer with three big drawers.
It was OPEN! The stuff on the door was defrosted, but still very cold, while the stuff in the drawers (save for one rack of ribs) were still frozen soild.
I had a bunch of bangers (sausage) on the door. Since it was still so cold, will they be alright?
USDA says it's fine to refreeze if it's been kept refrigerated, but that it will mess with the texture of the meat.
Everything will be fine. Just shut the door.
Christy Lee is right.
Just close the door. Use it for dinner tonight if you are concerned, but I would just let it refreeze and use it when I wanted. I would cook the ribs and use them.
Good luck to you and yours.
I wouldn't refreeze what was in the door but it should be okay to cook and eat.
The only reason I wouldn't refreeze is it increases the chance of freezer burn, yuck.
As long as you eat them soon. It's just like they were in the refrigerator.
That happened to us....twice!! I cooked everything that was no longer frozen and just cold. We ate a lot of meat for the next few days :) Good luck!
We also had a ton of icecream melt everywhere. What a mess!!
One of the many joys of motherhood I guess! lol
