Found Red Raised Bump in 4 Month Old Daughter's Groin Area

Don't be alarmed yet! I know it must be scary to see something growing on your daughter. BUT~~~It could be a birthmark. My kids got their birthmarks after they were born, so it's not unusual, and it sounds like thats what might be happening with your daughter.

When I was born, I had a "strawberry" on my cheek. It was not a lump, just a patch of bright red skin to form a circular shape. It eventually faded as I grew older, though. (Thank goodness :o)

My cousin had a "strawberry" under her eye, and her's sounds more like your daughters. Her's was a small bump with red on top, but the red color was the same as mine. Her family had it professionally removed when she was like 11 or something.

Anyway, it might be a late showing birthmark. But I would be interested to know what the doctor says today.

I'm sure everything will be alright with her.

I found a similar stuff in the groin area of my 3months old boy. While one doctor says it's a pair of lymph nodes and suspects it's due to the BCG Vaccine , Another specialist feels it's slightly in the lower groin and hence could be a bacterial infection and has given an oinment and asked to come after a week and if there is no improvement, probably might start some antibiotics.
Any updates from your side, I stay in Singapore.

My oldest has something like that on his neck and it really freaked us out at first, too. But it just gets red or enlarged when he's sick and then goes back to "normal" when he's better. Our ped said not to worry about it. Just watch it, that's all. I don't know if it's the same thing that your daughter has but it's a possibility. Is she stuffy or anything? Any sickness she might be fighting with could cause it to get red or bigger-at least that's what does it for my son.
If you get the chance, let me know what your doc said. It should be fine.

I also recently found a lump in my 9 yr old daughter's neck (behind the ear, above her jaw). We took her to the doctor who ruled out a sinus infection or an ear infection. Our daughter had a blood test taken to rule out anything more serious too. Turns out it is just a swollen lymph node and we can either choose to treat it with antibiotics or wait it out. We decided to wait it out. It was red for awhile and tender when touched but it eventually disappeared. It was about the size of a pea but soft - I guess the rule of thumb is, if its soft, then no worries. If it is a hard lump, bring her in to the doctor ASAP. Warm compresses helped too. Good luck!

I know it's tough, but wait to see what the doctor has to say. I remember when my two were young and know it can be stressful when something is not right and you have to wait to find out what's up.
Sorry, I don't have any experience like yours to share. I hope that is turns out to be nothing to worry about.
